Thank you, @bunnycat , for hosting Toys and Games week. I'm finishing up the week with the board game scarf Le jeu des petits bonheurs. My family plays so many games involving dice (Yahtzee, Monopoly, Parcheesi, Dungeons and Dragons, to name a few) that it seems appropriate to show the dice today. From Carre de Paris, "The design was inspired by an old French board game, the Jeu d'Oie, Game of Goose, that originated in the 16th century."

Le Jeu des Petits Bonheurs for today.

Like my twin @Karenska and my sister @Redbirdhermes, I knew I was going to debut the wonderful toy-strewn Objets de Curiosite this week. I tied it to show the corner with the large toy horse-on-wheels and then folded to show the corner with the moon, which reminded me of a favorite book of generations of children including in my own family. Bonus shot of the most recent member's bookshelf! For @Julide, with respect to colors, the cardigan in my second mod shot is true dark navy, as is the blue in the scarf. Finally, our wonderful @Nomad inspired me to make a color collage for this scarf. It is far from ideal, as the colors are not proportional to the design, but it was a fun and helpful styling tool with a scarf that has as many colors and shadings as this one... With great thanks and appreciation to @bunnycat for leading us and the rest of y'all for the truly fun, nostalgic and creative posts this week.

Simply wonderful. And thank you for the color collage indulgence. I am learning so much.

Manual dexterity games are a fave of mine. I like the suspense of Jenga as I delicately withdraw one piece from the tower, crossing my fingers that it does not collapse. But before the advent of Jenga, these were the games I played with my classmates.

Puzzles which required you to move a silver ball through a maze to reach the target. This scarf reminds me of the puzzles and of pachinko.

Another dexterity game I liked is pick-up sticks. The version I played had solid colour sticks with one bonus stick in a different colour that won you extra points.
Pick-up sticks appear in Faites vos Jeux and is the motif for Mikado. H also sells the sticks themselves.

The red is gorgeous on you. I loved to play Mikado as a child and was surprised to learn later that it was called Pick up sticks in English.

My Exposition Universelle today is on theme! The whole scarf is filled with (some imaginary) fun and games, but here I’m wearing it with an old ring I dug up in my room and you can see in the corner some dogs playing with their balls! Reminds me of my little one (see the very pixelated photo attached) when he gets overexcited when he discovers a rogue tennis ball our neighbour sometimes accidentally knocks into our garden!

(Pink jacket not mine, just trying in store!!!)

I was the first sibling in my family to get married, so I had no experience with little children as my brother and sister were close in age to me. When I was pregnant with DS1, Nippon Paint was running a commercial on TV extolling the wonders of their washable paint. The example used was kids drawing on walls and their frazzled parents switching to Nippon Paint to wipe off the artistic scribblings. Worried me asked DH if we should repaint the house  He :roflmfao: , being the veteran uncle of 9 nieces and nephews

This was my scarf mail on Monday. I can't call it a grail as I never expected to acquire one. It was a Lucky Find (tm).

@Redbirdhermes and @LKBNOLA When DS1 was a toddler, I plotted to buy him a childsized Kobelco Acera excavator. It was in a lovely turquoise and it took me some time to convince myself that I was buying it for me rather than for DS1 who had no interest in large construction machines. He preferred Ultraman and Beyblade.

Kobelco, Ultraman and Beyblade all originate from Japan, so here's a Japanese toy: temari balls were/are used in handball games. When I was young, decorative Japanese dolls were sold in shops here. Each doll held a parasol, a fan, a branch of wisteria or a game paddle for playing temari.

Congrats with Lascaux - we are twins - mine in identical CW was a lucky find, too, a real grail for me - only a couple of threads a bit wonky, and being ever so soft - enjoy

getting in my sotd. Following agrume for theme w ballet aquatique. I used to practice synchronized swimming every single day of summer in youth. Obsessed!!
I am finally figuring out how to tie this so the ladies aren’t all wonky haha. I love it even more now!
And boutique trip today w new scarfie friend :hugs:. We each bought one. Coming soon :graucho:. And as an fyi, ExTrEmElY limited new season choices. But then had a couple from several years ago?

DS1 loved flying kites. There was one day he was in the front yard letting his cheap 50 cents paper kite go higher and higher. The wind picked up and soon the kite was a tiny square in the sky. Then the storm clouds started rolling in. He was frantically trying to reel his kite back in before the rain started! Did a fantastic job tugging it back inch by inch despite his panic. He was six then.
