Thank you kindly Agrume!

This pink colorway is glorious HG.

I am almost afraid to ask my mom just how many times she had to read PLP to me at bedtime....

Indeed! A little like when you had a box of animal crackers and played with the little circus of animals for fun.

Thank you Snausages! Yes- despite the sad bits in it, I still enjoyed Velveteen Rabbit a lot.

Congrats on the new color way rbh! It does highlight things in a different way. The animal really pop on this one.
Thank you @bunnycat-- at Animal crackers and I can attest to the enduring power of those childern's stories as I am now reading both (along with a Hungry Caterpillar and Paddington Bear and Babar and Lyle the Corcodile and ...) to my grand-little.

Thank you @xincinsin for hosting us for Breathless week. I was sad to hear the passing of Godard as well and glad we had this theme to help tribute.

Well, I am up late grading papers. I am most definitely NOT having fun and games, unless wanting to beat your head on the desk repeatedly after yet another 6 hours of grading calculus and still not finishing counts....

So I am taking a break to have some fun and games for a few minutes and start our next theme. And it is perfectly OK if someone of your scarves for this week, also leave you breathless.

18 Sep 2022 The Velveteen Rabbit: Toys and Games in your scarves

This week seems poised to be a walk down memory lane, to a time when playtime and toys were the center of our worlds (and now I can queue up 21 Pilots Stressed Out to listen to).

The Velveteen Rabbit was one of my favorite stories when I was a kid, along with The Poky Little Puppy and Millions of Cats. (Notice a theme there?) These are things I read over and over again, and they were my nighttime reading friends, and treasured memories (especially Poky Little Puppy) of playing school teacher with a kiddy blackboard with all my stuffed toys.

This week is all about toys and games on your scarves. I know you'll be able to find a way to work this thing and make all sorts of connections. Make a game of it, in fact.

First up for me is Promenades, with children's games and toys prominently displayed in several areas. It's also kind of a segue scarf from last week, as the striped hem still leaves me a little breathless on this one.

Horseshoes - a symbol of good luck to hang over your door- but also a game! I'm not very good at horseshoes (but then I am also not very good at its related game cornhole. ) Here is Lucky Stripes men's cotton scarf.

I'll be in and out this week, as we are very suddenly on the schedule for getting our windows done. Our order came in early and I still have a lot of prep to do. Take it away scarfies!
Good luck with the window work. Love promenades. Your Hem and shirt play so well together like another had said already. genius
Clair de Lune leaves me breathless ! This has been a fun theme.

Another amazing scarf on you! perfect lippie with it too. It is a special pink
The playful animals parading around the border of Jardin de la Maharani remind me of a collection of toys. My SOTD came from a lovely scarfie friend, too, so even more special  Twins and sisters with many of you (@HoneyLocks, I am looking at your marvelous post last week :flowers:)...

Wonderful classic look with this gorgeous blue top. so classy
Thank you @xincinsin for hosting last week’s breathless scarves, and welcome to @bunnycat with her delightful introduction to Toys and Games week.

I adore my gray Dame de Coeur a Vous L’Honneur and wear it frequently. I adore the witty playing cards in the design and have been looking for another, perhaps brighter, colorway of this design.

View attachment 5612962

I finally found this blue and purple colorway, and was delighted to see, as often happens with different colorways, how different aspects of the design present themselves.

Introducing my new-to-me Dame de Coeur a Vous L’Honneur with the King and Jack of Hearts next to the neck, while the Queen of Hearts is on point. As she should be.

It can’t get any better than those cards in those exact spots ha! Bravo! I absolutely love the brighter version. And couldn’t agree more with how colorways pull different elements out. Sadly, making it even more difficult sometimes to choose one for purchase. Or is is just me!? Lol

Yaaas! The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I just know that was on heavy repeat when I was little. I recall the little pop up book well.

Good luck with the window work. Love promenades. Your Hem and shirt play so well together like another had said already. genius

Thanks Nomad! It's going to be a real trial. Supposedly they will do all of them in one day. I will be stashing half the cats in the garage, and half in the master bath where I will be, since that is the one room that will not get a window done. Everyone (except me sadly...) will get a dose of gabapentin to keep them calm.

I’m not participating much until Wednesday and hope to catch up somewhat at that time. I can see that the last two weeks have been received so enthusiastically and I can’t wait to see your offerings. For now, I want to share my recent scarf mail, which wasn’t due to arrive until well after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. But it arrived two days ago and I will wear it tomorrow in tribute. Regina, in soft springtime colors, reminiscent of England and Her Majesty’s birthday, April 21. I really love this little gav and Leila’s rendering of the flowers is so fresh and pretty. The shamrocks really touched me. This scarf is unworn and in pristine condition. 904DA8C7-6039-48D6-A3B1-6749AE81DF36.jpeg

It’s amazing how a different colorway impacts the design!

Congrats on your Regina- such lovely and soft colors.

Good morning all. In honor of Her Majesty the Queen, I am wearing Voitures Exquises LE. It was early and the lighting was not great when I took this shot, but I did also put on my pearls and a cardigan to watch this morning. I wish I had a kilt! My actual SOTD, also in fond remembrance is La Dame de Coeur. Twins with @Redbirdhermes, who showed this lovely cw and her bright new one yesterday. It does seem fitting today to wear a scarf titled The Queen of Hearts. :flowers: And I believe these may even reach the theme as both Voitures Exquises and playing cards are parlor games!

Editing to clarify that Exquisite Corpse (cadavre exquis), which Voitures Exquises is based on, is a parlor game in which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled by the participants in sequence. The invention of the game is credited to the Surrealists according to Wikipedia. @Redbirdhermes very methodically solved the puzzle for us!

You wear it beautifull, LKBNOLA, love the pairing!
Perfect pairing!

Good luck with your window work this week @bunnycat-- never easy and even harder when you are wrangling pets as well...

How beautiful and fitting @Karenska-- how lovely to have found this tribute for your collection.

It's evening here in Oz, I have been watching The Queens Funeral as well. Feeling quite choked up, but also optimistic. RIP Queen Elizabeth, long live the King. x BTW beautiful scarves. Particularly The Limited Edition, the colours very evocative of the late HRH.

My Voitures Exquises Jubilee scarf arrived late this afternoon.

Of course, I had to solve the puzzle and put all the carriages back together. Numbering the columns 1 to 8 going from left to right here are 1 and 4, along with 5 and 8.

Here columns 3 and 6 are together down the middle.

Finally, here are columns 7 and 2.

And, a quick mod shot.

Like @LKBNOLA and probably others of you, I got up early to watch the State funeral of QE2. I'm finally dressed now as the hearse heads to Windsor for the internment.

Voitures Exquises is a puzzle scarf. The quote above describes the solution to the puzzle where the various carriages are reassembled. They do remind me of the gun carriage that we saw this morning transporting the Queen's coffin from the Hall to Westminster Abbey. May she rest in peace.

Lovely, I like the little surprise pops of colour. RIP QE2. You are lucky to own this beauty.

Greetings, dear Scarfies, on this solemn day of tribute to a great and inimitable Queen. Wearing my Regina gavroche, arriving in time for Her Majesty’s funeral. Pearl studs, pearl necklace and Wedgewood angel brooch to honor Queen Elizabeth’s impeccable and lovely style. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, Elizabeth Regina.

Such a fun intro BunnyCat and so many directions to go with it!
I have a library full of books that I'll try to pair with my scarves for the first half of the week... for the later part it will be all 'Seat of My Pants What Can I Do Here' as I'll be out of town!
(and you know I love the SoMPWCIDH pairings!)
Clair de Lune leaves me breathless ! This has been a fun theme.
