Consider me enabled! I’m not indulging an obsession, I am continuing my education! :roflmfao: This thread continues to be dangerous…

I have a few silk chiffon non-Hermes scarves, that don’t get much wear as I am quite nervous of damaging them. They belonged to my late mother, so I am more afraid of destroying them for sentimental reasons, than anything else. The very fine ones seem much too delicate for real life.

All the wonderful feedback here seems to agree that H moussies are tougher than they appear, but I confess that my comfort with H silk twill is partly due to how robust they are. It feels like good value when I know most of them will outlive me, even with regular use. I already have several CSGM, and a modest (but growing) collection of silks… moussies are my last handhold on the slippery silk slope and you are tempting me mightily!!!
H moussies are my favorite format - they are SO beautiful!
(tho now I’m all like “competition!“)
(ignore me - I don’t *need* another moussie….. but…. zomg  )

FABulous!!!

I try to avoid certain colors in my scarves and clothing that I have found don't flatter me. Hot pink must be avoided, oranges are problematic, especially the coral shades, and the worst are scarves that feature hot pink and bright orange together. So, while I absolutely loved this colorway of Etude Pour un Iris-Arc-en-Ciel in mousseline, it was concerning because it has all those colors. But, it also has lilac, red, and navy which I love, so I gave it a chance.

I adore mousseline scarves, and I'm keeping this beauty.

This is a stunning design @Redbirdhermes and looks amazing in a mousseline. This one is so so lovely on you. I am your sister in a more pastel version that I would probably not have looked at twice but for @Marie-the-Mary's mod shots. I think the beautiful symmetry of the design balances the colors and H magic makes it work in almost every cw that I have seen-- one works particularly well. Congratulations and definitely a keeper!
wonderful, with the pink scarf ring as spot of colour!
SOTD is Palio di Siena, I love the centre of the scarf (and you'll see some efforts to highlight it), but less the broad yellow border. And although I like contrast hems, in this scarf I think I might have preferred a non-contrast hem. I have another cw on its way and consider rehoming this yellow one.

I've been in love with this design ever since I first saw it o @Nomad and I think the yellow is delightful on you @Agrume! I hope you keep it even when your other one arrives. It is so bright and cheerful and would be a fabulous summer scarf with a blue and white mariniere! See, I am already "borrowing" it! (And thank you :ty: )
Thank you! So far certain of the Hermès yellows have been much better for me than anyone else's yellows
I second this @Teaforparrots -- only this is how I feel about H colors generally. Oh, really H anything in silk is just better...
Just lovely and the pink ring just makes it, LKB. Black and white is so wonderful.
Thank you! :hugs:
Took a chance but I don’t think I like it - thoughts, anyone? I know the lighting isn’t good. My mod shots are not good lately. ZP GT

Well dear @Karenska, I am not a disinterested voice here because I have this very CSGT and I adore it. I do think the lighting and this particular tie are not doing it justice. The triangles, in my opinion, really look so lovely with the cowboy knot and variations that show more of the design than just the tails. As @Redbirdhermes and others have said it is perfect with your sweater and you wear so many colors so easily it seems this would be a no-brainer. But tis true that you must love it as much or more than we do!
It may be my ignorance, but I am thinking that mousselines may be the perfect format to experiment with colours that are out of our comfort zone. Not just the soft way they drape and fold, which is more forgiving than twill, but their very translucency. I would think that the colours would present quite differently, depending on the colour of one’s outfit, particularly for very saturated clothing.

So, with @Redbirdhermes beautiful arc en ciel, for example, would wearing this over a dark burgundy top make the coral areas appear closer to cinnabar? Or would wearing it over navy bring out plummy tones in the pinks and reds? Maybe it does this to itself, in the way it drapes, as there are deeply coloured areas of red and blue in the scarf and it certainly looks different on. I’m sure this is intentional, in which case its extremely clever! It would mean considering the colour palette of a mousseline quite differently to silks, where I tend to look at the dominant and accent colours, which are fixed, rather than how they will blend together.

I haven’t really explored moussies, so perhaps someone who knows and loves them could share their experience with whether they are easier, or just different, to take risks with? It’s such a pretty format.

thanks in advance!
@Lellabelle, I am a new collector who used to be in an exclusive relationship with 90 silk twill. Last August I tiptoed into the Mousseline world, lured by @Cookiefiend, @Awillow and many other lovely TPFers and their siren call of mod shots. I love the format and find them perfect for New Orleans' climate and for Cape Cod in summers, and for evening in any season. I do still handle them with a certain amount of trepidation because they seem so fragile. As to the colors, I agree that the chiffon changes colors in interesting ways and expands possibilities. I wish there were more opportunity to try on in store. Because I am new at the format, I prefer to purchase from resellers that allow returns as I have made a few mistakes color-wise. All I can say is come on in, the water is fine!
ohmigoodness - it’s perfection! That pink scarf ring is the perfect pop of color too!
Thank you @Cookiefiend!

There is nothing I don't love about this photo @Teaforparrots! Scarf, blouse and flowers are *chef's kiss*

I have admired that scarf on you and wondered whether I could pull it off!
Thank you, Teaforparrots! :flowers:

That’s very bright and fun, Agrume. I love it.
Thank you, Karenska!

I like it with this pullover, and will look good on jeans, too.

Sometimes you gotta go with the flow - these were calling your name and you heeded the call - well done!

wow wow wow! it absolutely sings against the bright top!

I think it looks great, I dont see the yellow border so much as I see the geometric shapes in it… makes me want to look closer!

If you should ever see a very tall woman wearing glasses ogling your scarf - it’s prolly me… don’t be alarmed tho - I’m mostly harmless!

I love the blue - what is it that you don’t care for?
thank yo, Cookie - I will take this as a compliment! :hugs:

I loved Julia Abadie's Poesie Persane as much for the title as for the design-- I had a beloved teacher and mentor who translated Persian love poetry so this literally spoke to me. When I found it (in great condition BTW and very fairly priced), I had some hesitation about the cw. The center figures are rendered in what seemed to me the Playskool or Fisher Price plastic colors that are prominent in my grandlittle's toy box! But I took a chance and I am glad I did. It is easy to feature just the beautiful corners but the overall design is charming when shown and now that I am generally older and bolder  I think it works! Here it is both ways:

As we discussed a few days ago, white hems on scarves make me nervous as I don't want them to look dingy. Nevertheless, a couple of pieces with white hems recently entered my collection. The most recent is the Voitures Exquises Platinum Jubilee scarf. Just lots of light colors here but this scarf is truly a treasure.

And, before that there was this Le Premier Chant / Wow muffler.

Here is the problem with sorting through colorways looking for ones with darker hems. For many designs Hermes doesn't put them onto the website all at the same time. And, some colorways are gone in a matter of days, if not hours. So, when I saw this bright and beautiful muffler I jumped. I adore it, white hems and all.

My SOTD is Le Premier Chant / Wow muffler in CW16, blanc/bleu/multi.

Cookie, you make a tempting case! And your la rosee changeant is TDF  You wear them all so well, it’s easy to see why you love them so!

Thank you for taking the time to reply, this is exactly how I feel. I would only be looking at secondary market, for this reason. I don’t see many come up, and I‘m not ready to actively chase them (you’re safe from more competition for now, @Cookiefiend ).

I know myself well enough to know that if something requires very careful handling, it will languish in the closet; its a terrible shame for something beautiful to live out its life in a scarf drawer, and miss out on the love it should be getting. I think I need a “gateway“ moussie, that I can learn to get comfortable with, without stressing overmuch at every little snag! I’m sure the right one will come along when the timing is right. I will steel myself with the patience of a huntress until then, and enjoy these lovelies vicariously ;)

We’re far enough North that my silk, and even cashmere, are still in rotation (it’s been an unseasonably cold and LONG Spring in the PNW), so the pressure is not so great yet…

This is just beautiful, @LKBNOLA . The brights of the people are hard in isolation, but they just dance over that stunning indigo. As rich and melodious as Persian love poems!

I know EXACTLY! My gateway moussie was a Toile d'Hermes stole-- it came pre-loved with a tiny snag already but it was crinkly and fun and easy to work with. Moussie training wheels!

I had actually packed this up to return because it wasn’t as bright as I had anticipated. Fortunately the Etsy seller was uncommunicative and you all talked me into keeping it! Kimonos et Inros goes well with the necklace my MIL gave to me; a goofy grin; my anxious rabbit statue; and the compliment I just got on it during a quick visit to a greenhouse!

same! i only have one which i bought pre-loved so i'm especially reluctant to wear it as it might be near impossible to replace it. however, as i found out last fall that the cashmere/silk scarves are very sturdy (mine went through 1/2 hour of a monsoon like storm where i was drenched to my bones), so i'm starting to warm up to the idea of adding more moussies.

I hesitated on the scarves of just one color - the Tatouages… would it be too plain or boring?
So I dipped my toe in with the Flamingo Party in The Brightest Color ever - and I lovvvve it!

And when I found another Tatouage in another design - I didn’t hesitate for even one hot minute!
Tout en Carre- I find this one very elegant too, not sure why?
