Another lovely intro and another beautiful scarf to set us on our thematic way @Karenska! Although now I have that ABBA song stuck in my head! And many many thanks to @Cookiefiend for hosting last week. I could not participate as much as I would have liked while on the road but I truly enjoyed relaxing after a long day of driving and liking and loving everyone's wonderful posts and mod shots. I especially enjoyed all the silk homages to the Queen in her Jubilee week.Good day, dear Scarfies,
Happy Sunday and the final day of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Hosting this week will be a hard act to follow after @Cookiefiend ’s stellar captaining of our silky ship. Cookie, your daily offerings and thoughtful comments were delightful and inspiring, and relating the story of how you acquired your Voitures Exquises was the frosting on the cake!I also want to offer an appreciation and shoutout to everyone who participated with your own silk treasures.
Your offerings and comments are equally delightful and inspiring. This forum is such a joy and it’s because of YOU!

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone in Design, Colour or Style!
Who hasn’t been faced with a sartorial choice that requires a leap of faith, to trust your own instincts and follow them? I remember a pair of high-heeled pumps that I bought when I was about 22 which I deemed impractical but essential. Oh, they were gorgeous. A deep winey red snakeskin, they were far more elegant than my wardrobe at the time. But they turned out to be very versatile. I wore them with everything. Touches of deep red, burgundy with navy or black, even with straight-leg jeans, they provided a bit of elegance and a pop of color. And as my wardrobe grew, they became even more essential. I wish I had a photo of them. I wore them for years.
Back to scarves. I took a chance on this colorway and I have never regretted it. I always loved the all-turquoise cw, but when I managed to find it, I was underwhelmed. Also, it was in poorer condition than described so back
it went. So I reconsidered this cw, which I originally thought too bright. But this beauty has enough turquoise to temper the bright green, and enough to satisfy me. Also the touches of gold, greys and taupes are such pretty accent colors. And it’s such a bright and happy green! Finally, this scarf turned out to be the perfect choice because I acquired it from a tPF member, which makes it all the more special to me.And my brother had sent me a monetary gift, which I applied towards the purchase of it which makes it even more special -
, bro!
Here is my final tribute to Her Majesty the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee, Les Normands by Philippe Ledoux, commemorating the Norman Conquest, a watershed in English history. Paired with a pearl and sterling silver torsade and Tara brooch (the decorative border reminds me of these pennanular designs).

Let’s see you take yourselves out of your comfort zones this week and show us your “I took a chance” beauties!
Well I think your Regina is simply lovely and you look beautiful in both your headshot photos @Redbirdhermes!What a wonderful week we had last week with @Cookiefiend and our detailed scarves. I especially enjoyed the details of how you obtained your Platinum Jubilee scarf. And, I'm looking forward to @Karenska and more stories of our more difficult scarves. I'm especially delighted to hear you are still loving that Les Normands. It looks amazing on you.
Today I’m wearing Regina, which was the Queen's Jubilee scarf in 2002. I purchased this scarf and it sat until we had a sleeper scarf week and then out it came. I am thrilled to own it, but I tend to wear my red Regina more often. As I go through my scarf collection I find that light blue scarves don't get worn as much as other colors. So, I'm more cautious now about which scarves I get in blue. This special blue scarf is a keeper, however.

The Queen owns this scarf in a different colorway, and I attempted to duplicate the headscarf orientation from this photo today.

A closeup of the flower petals and the leaves next to it show this is the same design.

And, since I haven't worn headscarves since I was a child, here is a bias fold for today.

I hope it does not remain the lonely yellow in your scarf collection-- it looks wonderful on you and Hermes has some fabulous yellows @Teaforparrots!Well this is an easy one… FdC in yellow…the one and only yellow item in my closet!
This looks fabulous. I agree with @eagle1002us that this combination really works with your coloring. What a wonderful scarf, too. I often eye this design when I see it but the red is elusive-- at least I think it is! Congratulations on adding another beauty to your collection @Redbirdhermes! (PS I would love to know your storage and record keeping system!)It was only my second day on the forum in June 2020 when I stopped to admire this red Jungle Love Tatouage (Tattoo) on @CanuckBagLover . At the time I felt that scarves with more colors were a better value than single color scarves. It is my casual observation that the more complex colorways of a particular design come out first, then simpler colorways appear later in the design run. (Mountain Zebra and La Patisserie Francaise are two examples.)

But, I still love this scarf, so two years later I have finally succumbed. Introducing my red jacquard Jungle Love Tatouage (Tattoo).

Well, I am so glad you plucked it off the re-home pile @Cookiefiend! I think it looks beautiful and I don't see the problem with the "icy blue" and your coloring but I know those are very personal opinions! I used to avoid orange at all costs (except perhaps its pale cousin peach or salmon) and now I have warmed up to it (A scarf that I’ve many many times considered putting in the re-home pile is Mythes et Metamorphosis … “it’s too pink, is it the funny shade of pink I don’t like (there is one shade), the blue is too icy, I have so many pink scarves ()”…
Until one fateful night in 2020 when I discovered the pink is the exact same shade as my favorite French Rosé - woot!! I never ask myself those questions now, but I do try to wear it so that I don’t show too much of the icy blue - except for today - for the benefit of Scarflandia…
You’re welcome!

I see what you mean about the shade of pink, but it does look amazing with your white shirt and blue-gray jacket. My other hesitation is the white hem. I have a lifelong worry about white showing dirt faster, so I try to avoid colorways with white hems. It is a real dilemma when my favorite colorway in a design is the one with the white hem. What to do, what to do?????![]()
I absolutely avoid white hems! I can’t bear the idea that they would become anything other than pristine. Some of my wellloved scarves - you can see the ‘handling soiling’ - just use. Given that! @Cookiefiend! Your scarf is gorgeous and pristine!!
Thank you! This particular shade of pink is so changeable- I noticed that all of these photos don’t really show the true color - it’s much pinker than these picture show!
As for the white hems - well… so far so good!
Life is messy - I have kids, a granddaughter, a dog, a full life… stuff happens! I managed to keep tomato juice off the scarf (but not my blouse or placemat) tonight, so I’m counting that as a win!
Life is short too - what’s more important? A spotless white hem, or a delicious tomato sammich?
Thank you sweetheart!
Thank you! But they are meant to be worn and loved, like The Velveteen Rabbit - maybe they count themselves loved if they have a few spots ❤
Thank you Eagle!
looking at these photos, the actual color is more vibrant than shown… Imma find my insta photo tha5 show the color better… BRB!
I am just going to have to be a happy contrarian on the white hem debate. I love them! I do take your points @Redbirdhermes, @Karenska and @Julide but I feel as @Cookiefiend does-- and I have washed pre-loved scarves with white hems and rescued them form the perils of dinge. I love both white and black hems for the strong contrast that each provide and a white hem is no deterrent to this scarf addict! Can I say thank goodness I am not alone!I too, do not like white hems, I feel they can make a scarf look dingy if they get the slightest bit of dirt or age, but like RedBirdH some of my favorite CWs have had a white hem. I have now stopped purchasing the CWs with a white hem, but have kept the ones that I do own. But now I try to make a conscious effort to find a smilier CW or another design that does not have a white hem to satisfy the colors I like. thankfully with H colour scheme you can find another design in a similar CW that hopefully does not have a white hem.
