The perfect Valentines design! Love it when it’s tied to display those corner hearts!
So many beauties!
Great intro, Cookie! And, I share your enthusiasm for Aline Honoré as she is also my favorite Hermès designer
Well, Hermes issued the Cavaliers d’Or carré in 1975 to accompany the Scythian art exhibit “From the Land of the Scythians” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibit consisted of nearly 200 objects from Scythian and other ancient civilizations occupying territories north of the Black Sea which are now part of Russia. Those rare pieces are part of the permanent collection of the Hermitage Museum and many had been recently excavated when the exhibit took place. The exhibit signaled the beginning of cultural exchanges between the US and the Soviet Union. Arriving from Asia, the Scythians were known for their gold-working techniques which heavily influenced jewelry design before the Christian era. The commemorative scarf displays a layout of important pieces from the Hermitage collection which were shown in the 1975 exhibition. In conjunction, the Met Museum also produced jewelry reproduction pieces to accompany the exhibition. At the time, I was not into scarves, but collected jewelry and I amassed most of the pieces issued by the museum.
