Just found out Now Voyager starts at 5:45 on TCM. I’ve seen it so many times but I love it. I don’t think Bette Davis had a more glamorous role. Two cigarettes on a match! I just put a roast chicken in the oven and, since my DH is working on his book and we will toast at dinnertime, I’ll watch it for awhile, at least up until her amazing “transformation”, with a glass of viognier and wearing one of my favorite H dudes’ masterpieces, Dans l’Atelier de Robert Dallet.

Oh gosh my favorite film.... Rio, the camellias, those beautiful dresses with the flattering while/light collars, and those hats! Enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day my scarfie friends!
I thought I would share a few of my scarves that feature hearts or couples or other amorous themes to kick off Sweetheart Week...

February 14th, 2021 - Sweetheart Silk: Designers you love (also Valentine’s Day)
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone in Scarfandia!
I hope you have a lovely day, filled with all the things (both intangible and real) that make you feel loved.
View attachment 4990221
My goodness, this is just the the best day ever to start this sweet theme!

Now, I know, asking who is your favorite sweet Hermes designer is almost like asking you to pick a favorite child, a favorite cookie (wait that might just pertain to me), or your favorite pet!

But when it comes to Hermes, and their fabulous designers - we know who we can’t resist! The ones when we see their scarves we say “Take my money!!”

“Let me call you Sweetheart
I'm in love with you
Let me hear you whisper
That you love me too
Keep the love light glowing
In your eyes so blue
Let me call you Sweetheart
I'm in love with you”
Perhaps you’re enamored by the beautiful Robert Dallet cats, smitten by the whimsical beasts of Christine Henry, floored by the floral swirls of Toutsy, infatuated by the vibrant work of Kermit Oliver, or charmed by Annie’s monkey.

One artist I adore is Aline Honore. There is such attention to detail in her work, you could spend a day admiring the scarves. My favorites of hers are Femme aux Semelles de Vent, Pelanges et Camouflage, Fleurs d’Indiennes, Tous les Bateaux du Monde, Voyage de Pytheas, well - the list goes on and on!

For today though, I will start with just 2 of her scarves (because otherwise this post would be 8 miles long), Au Coeur de la Vie and Plumes en Fete.

Au Coeur de la Vie begins at the heart of a living cell, and ends among the branches at the top of the tallest tree in the equatorial rain forest. We see luxuriant vegetation, chameleons, monkeys, humming birds, butterflies, beautiful flowers and vines. The details are truly extraordinary, it is a work of art we get to wear.

Plumes en Fete is a tribute to nature, its beauty and infinite creativity. A whirling crown of feathers from many different birds from all over the world add to this beautiful work of art. You can almost see them dancing in the breeze, a lovely swirl of beauty.

Tell us all, dear scarifies, who makes your heart pitter-patter on this Valentine’s Day, and over this week?
Toutsy gal here and I shall Phoenix every day this week!

It was your gorgeous Au Couer de la Vie that set me off on a years-long hunt for this CW!

Thank you for the delightful introduction to Sweetheart week, @Cookiefiend . My SOTD is Jungle Love Rainbow. Our cold temperatures are apparently bottoming out today. It is cold enough to do tricks like blowing ice balls, if only I had some soap bubbles. A quick photo as my fingertips were getting quite cold in just seconds.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

View attachment 4990428

Editing to add: Current temperature is -13F, windchill is -31F.
ohmigoodness - gorgeous scarf and I just ❤️ It with the red sweater!
I have to comment tho about the soap bubbles... great googly moogly. How did I knot know about this!?! :panic:
Sub-zero temps are on the way, and just guess what yours truly will be doing? Blowing Gosh-darned bubbles in my back yard and then Taking pictures for my granddaughter! Or even better telling my son about it!
(ohmigosh - I’m just thrilled!)
Happy Valentine's Day!

So many beauties!

Great intro, Cookie! And, I share your enthusiasm for Aline Honoré as she is also my favorite Hermès designer

Well, Hermes issued the Cavaliers d’Or carré in 1975 to accompany the Scythian art exhibit “From the Land of the Scythians” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibit consisted of nearly 200 objects from Scythian and other ancient civilizations occupying territories north of the Black Sea which are now part of Russia. Those rare pieces are part of the permanent collection of the Hermitage Museum and many had been recently excavated when the exhibit took place. The exhibit signaled the beginning of cultural exchanges between the US and the Soviet Union. Arriving from Asia, the Scythians were known for their gold-working techniques which heavily influenced jewelry design before the Christian era. The commemorative scarf displays a layout of important pieces from the Hermitage collection which were shown in the 1975 exhibition. In conjunction, the Met Museum also produced jewelry reproduction pieces to accompany the exhibition. At the time, I was not into scarves, but collected jewelry and I amassed most of the pieces issued by the museum.

My favorite BdG in the best CW

Ouch! I am happy to hear that your DH is OK! The scarf is perfect for the occasion and those are such beautiful scenes!

Brrrrr.... But just love your outfit! So colorful and upbeat!

So many wonderful, masterful designs! And, you wear them all with great style! Aline Honoré is also my all-time fav

Surfacing finally for a breath of fresh air! It's been an exhausting New Year. Normally we have a flurry of activities and visitors on the eve and the first day. Due to restrictions on the number of visitors per day, this year the busy period stretched to 3 days.

While I catch up with 30 pages of posts :girlshocked:, here's my new year SOTD:
New acquisition Jonquilles worn with an orange top with swirly design for the New Year eve when family came to our house, and paired with a red dress and jade bangle for the second day of the new year when we went visiting. I spent the first day in the kitchen cooking :cray:

The past few years, the lucky red packets have been quite cartoony. This year, I'm glad that many designs feature traditional motifs. Here are a selection: lotus, modern interpretation and traditional papercut of an ox, plum blossom and florals in updated turquoise and blue/orange colour schemes. And in the 2nd row, pretty paired designs: Dragon and Phoenix, and the treasure tray of new year goodies. I made two sets of lanterns: one in bright colours for my SIL, and one in deep red for my home.
View attachment 4989310
Wow you have really interesting looking graphics on your envelopes. I really like that cubist ox, the dragon on the yellow envelope and the 2 that form that platter! So different. Thanks for posting. Happy new year!

All those hearts... lovey, Fifi!

Off topic, but in a way a scarf on site as it was cold enough to skate in the heart of Amsterdam (though not on the canals where the ice was too thin). We went very early as I had do to my rounds later in the morning, and were cut short by a fall of my overconfident husband ending in A&E - fortunately nothing serious, only a heavily bleeding wound needing glueing. It started thawing now, so no more skating this winter.

Hmm, if you were expecting leather, I can understand the feeling. Would you have paid the same price if you knew it was a fabric cord? I'm the type who buys clothing and changes out the buttons, and hoards jewellery components to cobble together, so if I thought the pendant was worth the price, I 'd just pull out a leather cord of my own to swop out the fabric cord.
