Scarf Mail! I found this cotton/silk mix 100 scarf in the Men's department, and decided to try this format. Fortunately, our heat wave broke yesterday, with cool weather and rains expected today. The cotton/silk mix is so summery that I plan to keep looking for attractive scarves with this fabric.
The scarf is Carrick Bend, which refers to a knot used to join two heavy ropes and has probably been used by sailors for millennia. The design shows up as a Spring/Summer 2020 design, but the manufacture date on my scarf is January 2021. Perhaps the printing of this design was delayed by COVID-19.
As the Carrick Bend knot is used the world over, there is no specific US connection. However, the knot forms an attractive design that is often used as a decorative element, including on some US Navy diving helmets. So, there we are.
