For Wednesday, I’m slightly off topic - so I hope you’ll forgive me.
FOMO is not only fear of missing out on scarves but missing out on spending time with those we love and didn’t see much of last year.
So because I’m spending this week with my sweet pea, here we are at the Art Museum, and we’re both wearing H!

Fabulous! (I would wear that dress in a heartbeat) Lucky girl to get to play in grandma's scarf drawers!

About 10+ years ago I saw this on evilbay with a black background. I’ve not seen other Vienna themed scarves and my mother’s family hails from there so I added it to my scarf drawer. But the yellows did nothing for me so I rehomed it. A year or so later a burgundy background appeared but I forgot to watch it and some other lucky bidder got it. I’ve been searching for it ever since.
So it popped up on TRR at an unattractive price given its age and lack of interest. So I waited for the price to drop, and while I think if I’d waited longer the price would have dropped further I couldn’t miss it a second time.
The silk is soft, it lacks a caretag, there are some small stains that will get the Janie’s dry cleaning stick treatment, and I was horrified that TRR pinned their store tag to it (at least in a surreptitious area). I don’t have many summer tops to wear with this and the yellows still do me no favors. But I’m thrilled.
I love these stories. Some people think they have to have a scarf right away - others enjoy the long game. This is lovely!

Sisters @Karenska and twins with @Pirula on this charmer. The hem on this one is TDF.

You look wonderful @Thelittlefoxes -- I adore the Kantha -- so pretty in pink but just a charming design in any cw. Love the earrings, too!

So cute @duggi84! I love that design, too.

Great photos and lovely to see scarfie friends having RL enablement fun! Your shawl is beautiful @Pirula.

Oooh, @Living.la.vida.fifi these are marvelous! I am your P&C sister and ZP sister too. I do not know the other design but must learn about it-- so beautiful.

Just love this so much @Cookiefiend! What a lovely day with your darling girl. She has your smile! Her little gav looks perfect with her rainbow dress and your earrings are fab with your Kantha! (PS Granddaughters are never off-topic, BTW)

Thank you! I never thought that red and I were friends-- more like casual acquaintances but we have grown closer lately...

Now THAT is a great offer @Snausages! Seriously it is nice to get the occasional PM about an item that some kind tPFer remembers one was looking for...

I would be too @Snausages! What a great story and a great find. It looks wonderful with the yellow stripes so you have one top already...I have also encountered the TRR tag application horror show when the original care tag has been detached. On the plus side, some scarves are in otherwise great condition minus care tag and thus cost a lot less. H Math!

Thank you so much @Foxy trini! And thank you @Snausages and @paula24jen and all the rest of you lovelies who were so kind about my gav pairing. Everything I know about gavs I learned here from @Cookiefiend, @Nomad and @Karenska. I am their humble grasshopper...

Thank you!!!

Lovely on you, and no, not an impulse purchase, I think when that happens its totally intuitive. I have never regretted an "impulse" purchase. What a lovely day you must have had, great times.

Thanks so much!

Here's my SOTD on theme-- I found this for less than the current retail price of a twilly (oh, oKAY, maxi twilly) and since y'all know I am a blue and black lover this had my name on it. It qualifies for the sales goggles category because I had already ticked off this design in my collex with a really lovely, colorful maxi twilly so I hardly "needed" a 90 of another zebra, pegasus or not! But, it has proven to be a Very Useful Scarf as it goes with almost everything. I am loving this chemisier knot as my pix this week attest...

Sigh. (I also need a green with envy emoji)

Lovely! Great colors and I get what you mean about yellow doing no favors. What scarf is this?
D’oh! It’s Roue arriere su Carrosse Imperial de la Cour de Vienne. It looks a bit like Romantique (haven’t taken a flat photo yet so here’s a bad screengrab)

H Sales Goggles! As a dog lover I’m partial
to the Colliers design by Virginia Jamin. I’ve got a 90cm silk and a 140cm cs, as well as a 90cm wash and twilly of Colliers et Chiens.
So do I need a maxi twilly? No. I don’t even particularly care for maxi twillies. At least I didn’t until I saw awesome mod shots here. This when this appeared at well below retail I jumped. It helped that, like the Coupons Indiennes I scored last month, there was a typo in the title so if anyone had a search set up it wouldn’t be included.

Now I need to get my hands on Woof Woof. So exciting to see some A/W showing up on h.com! I’ve got a friend in Paris right now and pinged her to hunt for a Woof Woof!

How glorious Cookie, so lovely of you to share with us, hope you enjoy your time together!
We are - thank you!
Fabulous mod shots!
Thank you sweetheart!
How wonderful to share your love of art & H with her
:hugs:
So happy you are spending and enjoying time with your beautiful sweet pea, Cookie. She must love wearing scarves with you!
She does get a kick out of it, and since I have <cough> several ... she has lots to choose from!
Scream!! She’s so adorable Cookie! How wonderful to share your passion for H with her, she’ll have the most amazing memories of you when she’s older.
Oh thank you so much Foxy T, that's such a lovely though! :hugs:

Thank you so much! She is a very sweet girl.
Another Must-Buy. This was not a bargain. I paid a lot more than current retail for it. A few years ago, @lanit showed SOTD an interesting scarf called Calvacadour Clair de Lune. I liked it but it rarely appears in the resale market. I missed out on one about 2 years ago, not that it was priced even close to retail. This one is from a Japanese seller, purchased a couple of months ago, and was one of those rather anonymous listings that don't tell you much and test your identification skills. I hesitated, but finally pulled the trigger because I didn't want to search any longer.

It's brown, the only cw for this design. So to brighten it up, a true bargain - the Folklore twilly which became even cheaper with the use of a voucher, and was bought because it was so cheerfully bright and we need cheer in our lives.

I will have to wear this a lot to bring down the cost per wear

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! wow...

hahaha - I'll tell her - she will love that!
Today's SOTD was a 'grab it before it disappears from the web site' purchase. A large wash silk with Dallet's cheetah... I purchased this so fast before it could disappear, which it did for quite a while.

hahaaaa! I have to laugh at "So do I need a maxi twilly? No. I don’t even particularly care for maxi twillies."
I completely understand!

Apologies for the mix up some how in this post - I can't even figure out how to fix it!

Oh my gosh…Did that come off wrong.. Like I was saying yellow didn’t look good on you?? I meant, I know what you mean because I think I can not handle certain yellows ( think it does ME no favors!). I have to analyze the yellow on a scarf to make sure I can make it work. oh my gosh sorry if that came off wrong. ugh. Darn writing And not taking the time there to write a few more words to clarify! So sorry dear Snausages! N agree with other comments that the yellow stripe w it totally works. Thanks for the name. I didn’t realize that had Viennese origins. very cool

This is beautiful! However did you tie it?

Thank you kindly thelittlefoxes!

Thank you so much! I folded the scarf into a triangle and almost knotted it like a cowboy knot. But instead of tying bothe ends in the front I looped one end around the scarf and pulled the other end through the loop. I got this idea form a video tutorial on the instagram page "scarflookbook". The video was posted on 22 November 2020 with a Parures de Samouraïs carré. I just used a triangle instead of a bias fold to start with.

So, is it an impulse purchase if you walk into H, see something, and fall truly madly deeply in love? Perhaps in some ways, so close enough. A souvenir of my lovely day with darling Fifi (who did nothing to dissuade me!)

I love this design and it is a perfect match with your blouse or dress in the first photo. I had to look twice to see where the shawl ends and the blouse/dress begins. A perfect souvenir and a gorgeous accessoire!

Awww… Thank you so much! And, yes, mine is the cream, black and gold… This design is a Parisian delight!

Thank you so much! I must honestly say that I love every single CW of this design that I’ve seen… Which is your Grail CW?

I LOVE the death and the maiden theme that you’ve pursued… Works so beautifully! And, I am delighted that you found the red Printemps! I regularly post about my scarves on my IG and also about my jewelry collection. When I posted my C’est la Fête last year, I couldn’t help but to to also do a little Death and the Maiden montage with a Victorian vulcanite pendant featuring a pensive maiden in high relief
View attachment 5124566

Gorgeous in pink! I recently saw a marvelous fuchsia one. Mine is the acid green, but I would love to add another to my collection! Every single CW of this design is fantastic!

Thank you, it's a lovely design indeed! Your Victorian pendant is very special and the maiden's face is very beautiful. Historic jewellery is marvellous in it's detail!

A few more Grails fulfilled and wonderful purchases made this year.
I had always admired Pelages et Camouflages after seeing it modeled beautifully by so many here. But, it was finally @Pirula that pushed me over the edge with hers. Luckily, soon after her find, this one came up and I hit that purchase button as quickly as I could. Not exactly a bargain as I paid $10 over current retail, but I couldn’t resist and quenched my FOMOF
View attachment 5124595

Another long-time Grail was Zebra Pegasus. Such a marvelous design that I could never decide on a CW, so I sadly sat with my indecision and saw it drift farther and farther away. But about a year ago a friend who has a small and well-curated H silks collection found this CW on a reseller site and her marvelous styling of it helped me to decide that I needed her CW. Well, when it came up on the same reseller site of Pelages two weeks later, I didn’t hesitate. Major FOMOF again! And, for less than my friend payed at about $50 below current retail

Cavaliers Peuls in this CW has been a long-time Grail and when it came up in perfect condition at a little over $200 I pounced… Sales Goggles working their magic again

Pelages et Camouflages is a marvellous design and your cw is great! Red and yellow are perfect for this design and bring out the borders beautifully.

We are half sisters on the Carré Kantha – your mousseline is so pretty. How lovely that you could spend time with your family!

It's such a lovely shade of pink, and looks lovely on you.

Thank you so much, I'm quite pleased with it, too!

Who am I but the most devoted bargain hunter

Chapeau! (which I posted last week as well) was a “that’s too cheap, no way the final price is gonna be that low” unexpected ebay auction win. I normally would be quite skeptical at such low price but the scarf was from a trusted Japanese seller so I took the plunge, put in my max bid and went to bed. Woke up the proud winner haha

Early America, enabled by dear @turfnsurf was another bargain. I’ve been eyeing a 90 pink Early America but the price for that particular scarf is quite high. So when this little moussie gav popped up, half the size but less than half the price, clearly it was a great deal. H Math at its finest

I’m living vicariously through you @Thelittlefoxes. Venice is beautiful as always and I hope to be able to go back there one day
:noworry:

Thank you so much, I really hope you can go back soon because it's an incredible place!

I love it when I win auctions like that! Your Early America mousseline is a beauty, the soft colours are perfect for the gossamer thin silk.

Here’s the last of my four “lucky finds” from the past six months. So far I have accumulated four lucky finds, three targets of opportunity, two impulse buys and one full blown obsession. AND I am running out of what my DH calls “luxe bucks” money made from selling seldom and/or never used designer shoes and bags which made up my scarf slush fund! Oh, well, it’s been a grand spree so far…

Very striking against your black shirt. And I love how your pearl earrings call black to the white dots on the scarf!

Three beauties in a row! Parures des Maharajas is wonderful in your cw and On a summer day looks so lovely white your white shirt and coral trousers. Rocaille II is a lovely abstract take on the Rocaille design!

Here’s my SOTD. Twins with @paula24jen and @Nomad. Loving this Mai Tai chemisier knot to dress up a tee shirt and “knot” too much silk around the neck…View attachment 5123540

This is so lovely on you, the colours are just perfect!

Well, I forgot, until @Pirula and @momasaurus posted gavs, that I bought a few impulse cuties, too! But in H Math, aren't gavs a bit like a rounding error (not at reseller insane prices, but...)? Here are two together; a total impulse search after seeing Momasaurus' beautiful 90 and an Evil Bay "make an offer" at bedtime that I woke up owning. So happy to have both. I think they like each other!!

A marvellous combination of two very beautiful designs. You have a great scarf ring, is it by Hermès too?

You look wonderful @Thelittlefoxes -- I adore the Kantha -- so pretty in pink but just a charming design in any cw. Love the earrings, too!

Thank you so much! The earrings are my small pearl earrings and they are so easy to wear that I always use them when I am too lazy for anything more elaborate.

Here's my SOTD on theme-- I found this for less than the current retail price of a twilly (oh, oKAY, maxi twilly) and since y'all know I am a blue and black lover this had my name on it. Marvellous – I always love your chic scarf knots! You really wear every shade of blue so well.

Sometimes my impulse buys are along the “Oh what the heck, let’s give it a whirl” lines. :giggle:
Such as this Giant Triangle! (which I’ve worn 4 times since April, so I think it’s a success!)
D0D3F8B7-C4B9-4F81-8350-D00000AD8419.jpeg
Sometimes they’re “Eh… that’s a bit more than I want to pay, but it rarely comes up… so…”
Such as this beautiful Les Ailes de la Soie! (Which just arrived!)
