This year has been punctuated by a couple of lucky finds, and at least one FOMOF (but I didn't settle) scarf. Though I have tried to tell myself I have been better about purchases, sadly when I add the number up, that is not the case. A lot of the purchases so far this year have been definitely OUT of the bargain realm and IN to the I'd better get this while I can realm.... Cha-ching $$$

One bargain I am very happy with (because, like our dear @Cookiefiend , I have a permanently attached pair of sales goggles on my head at all times... )

Just before "The Big Freeze" here in TX I located this Grand Fonds pareo for the price of a twilly (calculated Mod H so everyone here will understand) :roflmfao:

grabdfondsbargain.jpg

And under the concept of FOMOF (Fear of Missing out Forever) when the Marche du Zambeze came out, and was re-released in my fav colorway of black/purple/green I ordered it as fast as it could appear on H dot com (and it promptly became my valentines present from MrBcat's "SGV" - that magic place where future H scarf numbers reside.... )

zambezeFOMO.jpg

The other FOMOF scarf still hangs in limbo in the SGV as of today, but I HAD to have it because I love the marble scarves so and wanted one of my very own. :cloud9: So my Kyoto Marble bandana from this spring's releases is still in the set of "imaginary" scarves FOMOF-i, since it don't exist here on my Real Scarf Plane (RSP) just yet. I am hoping it will get moved from FOMOF-i to RSP very soon-ish!

Well then, now that our scarf mistress has introduced the principle of FOMOFSIS, I confess I have one too. Also from this year.

Wanted the black, settled for the orange and I love it!

FOMOFSIS, now there’s a thing; I snoozed the season Animapolis came out, by the time I caught up via tpf enabling they were pretty much sold out. My ever patient SA managed to find one left in the country but not my preferred cw, howeve it is one of my most complimented scarves. So meant to be really!

Agree that this CW is magnificent for so many reasons... so versatile snd the mysterious, deep shades fit the theme to perfection! Love the bracelet with it

It is amazing and has become a favorite... I go for it so much! Look how pretty it looks on you! Mine has a long story behind it that I will share
Thank you so kindly, dear Fifi. I truly love it; just have to figure out when to wear it. I can’t wait to hear your story.

Awesome bunnycat. They’re beautiful. I’m really tempted by the marble bandana. But I must be strong, I’ve been so bad. Hope you get it!

That’s beautiful! I was a late comer to Animapolis as well. To Batjik really. It suits you wonderfully. No settling here!

Oh- we have an anniversary soon, and so it will probably finally get out of the vault then (Hopefully!). If not then, SURELY by Xmas! I've been good and only "visited" with it once.

Gorgeous and lucky find!!!

Thank you, bunnycat, a lucky find indeed!

Your Grand Fonds pareo is marvellous, the colours suit you beautifully! I must get a pareo, your photos always remind me of how gorgeous they are. The Kyoto marble bandana is very special and I hope it will soon find its way to you.

Oh, how glorious to be in Venice! This Maharani looks so amazing on you! Unbelievable price and the best CW

Thank you so much, that is a high praise coming from you - I always admire your selection of colourful cws!

Must begin with my two biggest, sought-after FOMOs of the year: La Marche du Zambeze and Space Derby.
The minute I saw it, I knew I wanted the yellow Zambeze and refreshed h.com several times a day until it finally came up. So afraid that it would be scarce due to all the 2020 issues.
View attachment 5122687

I also frantically looked out for Space Derby, although I did want the red CW. But, after three months of waiting, my SA told me that the red would probably not be available here any time soon, but that he had located the yellow. My FOMO with this design had escalated and I ordered it. The minute I saw it, I fell in love with it
View attachment 5122686

The same day I went to get Space Derby, I ran across the red Selle des Steppes... a scarf I was not planning to get. I had seen various beautiful CWs that looked great on others, but didn’t really visualize it on me. But it was a coup de foudre... a total impulse buy
View attachment 5122685

The borders of both Marche du Zambèze and Selle des Steppes are great and add a lot to the design. I love your scarf knots that highlight the borders to perfection!

There are some recent garden design scarves which I love, but are so pricey that they have been stricken from my Wish List. When I saw this year's Faubourg Tropical it immediately sprang to the top of my Buy List. I purchased two of the blue colorways that were more available, avoiding the oranges and corals that don't flatter me. But, when this silver and rose version appeared briefly on H.com, I hesitated for bit, wondering if I needed three colorways. Of course, it has turned out to be my favorite and most worn of the three.

View attachment 5122658

So pretty and feminine, the colours look marvellous on you! And the silvery, pearl grey background matches your beautiful pearls.

Good evening everyone! First, thank you @bunnycat for last week's theme. Great job and so fun to see all the selections.

Aaaand thank you @Cookiefiend for a great introduction. My first justification for my H profligacy in 2020-2021 (so far) was that all the $$$ not spent on hair, facials, Pilates, etc... was now available as discretionary funds for...SCARVES! So there was that. I was disciplined though for the most part sticking to my plan to acquire designs by two favorite artists. Then there were the purchases that fell under "lucky finds"-- the first of which is posted here. I am not necessarily looking for the "lucky find" but when I see it my fickle finger just can't stay within the budget lines and off I go. In 2021 I have bought four of these. This category is a close cousin of the "target of opportunity" purchase-- ie a scarf on my wish list that suddenly appears at a reasonable price. Have to do it, right? After all it is ON THE LIST. Basically, though, I just bought a ton of scarves. Who am I kidding? If you keep your wish list nice and long, you always have a justification seems to be my buying strategy. So here are one Lucky Find and one Target of Opportunity:
Lucky Find is Rocaille II Detail, which reminds me of a Sailor's Valentine) and Target of Opp is La Promenade de Longchamps:
View attachment 5122223View attachment 5122224

I love these black and white scarfs on you, they are so chic! I still remember that marvellous photo of yours with the black blazer and L‘Art d‘Ecrire which was just perfect.

I‘ve used the excuse „it‘s on my wish list, so I must get it when it shows up“ too. The trouble is that for one scarf on the list that has been found there are two new ones added to the list. So instead of getting shorter, the list is constantly growing.

Here’s my example (and it is really recent) of an obsessive “have to find one” design totally tPF induced madness. I contacted a reseller who had a different cw and inquired if she had others. This ensued. Paid more than my rule of retail plus 10% if condition and color warrant for a coveted design (I have different math for grails). This was Impulse plus Insanity plus Availability=Scarf Mail.
View attachment 5122496View attachment 5122497View attachment 5122498

This is so lovely on you and I always admire your beautiful scarf knots! I know what you mean with a different math for grails. Depending on the situation, I have very different rationalizing strategies to justify my purchases.
One of them goes like that: I have been looking for this scarf for quite some time now. If I don‘t buy it now that I have found it, I will have to keep on searching which will inevitably lead to more purchases of scarfs discovered in pursuit of this one. But if I buy it now my search will be finished which will safe me lots of money. That alone makes this scarf a bargain.
(Of course, this is total nonsense because I keep on browsing through reseller sites anyway.)

Well here are the last 3 scarves I have recently purchased - all previously owned.

della Cavalleria moussie 140 - I got sidetracked by other beautiful moussies the season this came out - felt lucky to have found this a few weeks ago. I clicked “ BIN” very quickly. This Cw will be very versatile- with all the colors in it.
355F69F4-2267-4BBC-AD72-BFF7E7994C2E.jpeg

another purchase this month - I didn’t manage to buy maitres de la foret when it was originally released. I always knew this was the perfect CW for me- another BIN as soon as this was listed. all my favorite blues with a bit of purple.
6A32E378-369E-4FC0-A766-64A63F9D4A6F.jpeg07E8A9C1-6017-409E-9C2E-F6829DF54775.jpegD8370E58-E945-42BC-9728-162FD72C7624.jpeg
and this one was a surprise - a beautiful moussie stole Tabriz listed at a great price with crummy pix. In fact it is very difficult to photograph moussies so they are often a b3autiful surprise when you open the box - even better than you hoped for.
lately I have been wearing a lot of aqua and greens so this was perfect!

These are all great but I am lusting after your grand fonds pareo.

Today we’ll go into FOMO - briefly touched upon by our dear @Pirula

FOMO = Fear of missing out - or obsessively checking H.com for THAT scarf. I have 3 examples of that!
Madras Ex Libris

Tropique Faubourg
View attachment 5122528
L’Art du Sarasa

Then there’s FOMOA = Fear of missing out AGAIN
For me that’s (to keep this post manageable :giggle:) Ex Libris en Kimonos
View attachment 5122530
Cache Cache Fleuri
View attachment 5122531
Lastly (though you know I can come up with more!) there’s FOMOFSIS
Or Fear of missing out FOREVER, so I settled…
For me that’s the elusive pink Kachinas… so I settled with for the Maxi Twilly!
View attachment 5122532
Will post my SOTD later, as I’m out and about with my sweet pea❤
More hilarious scarf vocabulary lessons (to go with the math!) and such beautiful scarves. Twins on two and I love to copy your styling! I did see a pink kachinas 90 with the green corners recently on the evil bay. Mine is the wash pink version with blue corners…
Well then, now that our scarf mistress has introduced the principle of FOMOFSIS, I confess I have one too. Also from this year.

Wanted the black, settled for the orange and I love it!

View attachment 5122586
it’s so cute in orange and perfect on you @Pirula! Great scarf on site photo— you both look so relaxed and happy ( I did have a moment of fear for your bag toppling into the water…)
I too am guilty of doing H math. Because there are real world prices - „Do they really want 4 Euros for a cappuccino? Now that‘s greedy!“ - and Hermès world prices - „This CSGM is just 600 Euros, now that is a bargain, I can‘t let it go!“

So when I saw Le Jardin de la Maharani for 550 Euros on eBay in „my“ cw I couldn‘t possibly pass it up. Now it came with me to Venice where it was much too warm to wear it but it worked well during the evening in the Berici hills around Vicenza.

View attachment 5122636
And, just because I love it so much, Palladio‘s Villa La Rotonda which I visited yesterday.
View attachment 5122650
Gorgeous all around. Beautiful scarf and photo, @Thelittlefoxes.
Both are gorgeous, especially the oh so elegant Longchamps... And I totally relate on your H math thinking here as all my money saved in 2020-21 on the things you mention were also used for silks, especially CSGMs

I am your twin in this beauty which I also pursued with a passion. Lovely on you.
Thank you so much @Living.la.vida.fifi - you are such a thoughtful collector that being your twin always feels like a good endorsement!
Ok, this is a different kind of FOMO. Whenever H introduced something new (beyond designs/colorways) I feel like I must jump. I had one of the old patchwork scarves (the kind sewn together; long since rehomed), one of the first vintage silks (a 90cm Paddock, also long since re-homed)…

Anyhow, I rarely wear my glams because lamè feels either too fancy or too cheesy. But I’m a sucker for pink. So thank you for the impetus for my Boucle outing

Thank you so much. Black (and blue) scarves are my kryptonite! I think collectors and devotees of beautiful things find many ways to rationalize their passion and to redefine what a “bargain” is! I am so guilty of this too @Thelittlefoxes plus, I love to browse anyway so I live on the edge…
