Dragon Flash losange worn with Flamboyant Web, both in cherry red.
Two cws of C'est la Fete worn together: you can see the grey round my neck, while the marine is fluffed out in the tails.
Hermes Odyssey gav - wish I'd bought more cws. @Redbirdhermes I agree with you: men's pocket squares feel thinner and lighter than women's gavs. Perhaps because they are meant to be folded and tucked into the breast pocket?
And finally Caducee Rock. I'm on a Harry Potter fanfiction binge at the moment and keep thinking Serpentsortia  Never knew the HP fans do fiction crossovers with Batman!

ahhh - I’ve never heard of this poem, or lullaby - thank you for sharing this. I’m going to see if I can find a recording of it. ❤
It makes me think of the old fairy tales (which could be really dreadful), and Rock-a-bye Baby - so lulling… yet - “when the bough breaks?”

So beautiful - the scarf, the Basilica, and you.

Great scarf on site photo! This one looks great on you, as do all your orange scarves! And of course, I am envious of your days in Venice...

Thank you for elaborating. Now I know the lullaby you mean-- there is a Joan Baez folk version that is very haunting. I think Bruno Bettelheim in The Uses of Enchantment talks about how children learn to negotiate fear and terror through story and, I guess song, too. I haven't read that book since my grad schoold days studying children's literature but even familiar prayers for children like "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" are pretty scary if you actually focus on the words. I think children faced a much harsher world in terms of mortality in the past, so these stylized renderings that seem so stark to the modern ear (and heart) were probably just a part of their reality. See why I missed your interesting posts? A silken trail from moons rising to abenlieder...

Thank you so much for your compliments on my scarf, @Cookiefiend and @LKBNOLA ! It‘s a perfect summer scarf and Saint Mark‘s Square is unbelievably beautiful in the evening.

I hadn’t heard of The Uses of Enchantment yet but the book sounds very interesting. Teaching man how to see the world and how to navigate through the perils of life is possibly the very reason for the existence of literature and, even before that, song. To me, the spellbinding quality of melodies and lyrics from centuries past lies in their ability to speak to us of realities of life that are so different from our own and yet still accessible through art. In the case of „Der Mond ist aufgegangen“ there is both a beautiful description of the natural world already foreshadowing the German Romanticism of the 19th century and a glimpse into a world full of uncertainties that can only be overcome by god‘s help, firmly anchoring the poem in the tradition of Baroque poetry.

The melody of the Joan Baez version is the one that is commonly used as a lullaby/folk song while the Schubert „Kunstlied“ version is much less known. On youtube there is a recording of „Der Mond ist aufgegangen“ by the German tenor Rudolf Schock and a choral version sung at the state funeral of a former German chancellor which both give a good impression of the version that is most widely known.

Here is my swan song for the theme week: La Danse des Chevaux. Sisters with @Cookiefiend and @Redbirdhermes.I think this is technically a unisex design since when I went to the boutique they pulled it from both but mine was with the women's blues. I just adore the design. It is my first double faced scarf and it really does feel like two. I also think this "gris perle" silvery thing H has going on is perilous for me...

Both sides are beautiful and so different that this is really two scarfs in one. Your shirt in the first photo is a perfect match with the white border and the blue trim on the sleeves. Gris perle is so elegant, particularly with your pearl earrings and your marvellous scarf knot!

My first post here must be dedicated to Hermes scarf!

Anyway, this is me with my Grande Tenue 90 wash scarf (Gold/Crème/Bleu Royal) bought earlier this year. It did not look something that I'd buy on the website, but when I saw it in the store, I knew I just had to get it right away!

Welcome! the colors definitely agree with you and the blazer, and love the knot!

Thank you for linking this, Little Foxes. It is a beautiful, haunting piece. I listened to a couple of versions yesterday on YouTube.
I love all the German lieder and one of my very favorite interpreters nearest and dearest to my heart is the incomparable Elly Ameling.
You are looking happy in Venice. I hope you enjoy and please keep us posted with scarves on site! I do hope to visit Venice again soon.

Thank you so much, Karenska! I hope you can come as soon as possible to enjoy a relatively empty city.

Elly Ameling was a marvellous singer, I love her renditions of „Frauenliebe und Leben“ und „Gretchen am Spinnrad“. Kathleen Ferrier is another favourite of mine, particularly for the Lieder of the late 19th/early 20th century by Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss.

Beautiful! I remember how hot it was in Italy in July. I was positively wilting. Then we headed to Greece! From the fry pan into the fire, so to speak. Costumed and elegant gentlemen in Fêtes Vénitiennes.

Oh yes, Italy is no scarf friendly country during the summer months . Your Fêtes Vénitiennes is beautiful, particularly with your lovely Art Deco pendant! I have to keep reminding myself that I do NOT need a full Venetian 18th century outfit with cloak, hat and mask - there are just too many shops selling very decent replicas. (And some more shops selling horrible ones.)

Gorgeous on you , I sent mine back, as the colours didn't work for my colouring. It's a beautiful design.

These are bad news, I thought they were on a good way with limited access and high city taxes.
That‘s insane, really.
Thank you for your compliment. Thelittlefoxes!
@Croisette7
Indeed, some of them are already back.
Plus UNESCO has put Venice on the list of endangered sites a few days ago.
There must be a way to ban those horrible cruise ships from the lagoon!

Unfortunately, the UNESCO can hardly put enough pressure on Venice. I‘m sure the city wanted the World Heritage status some decades ago but it‘s one of the top tourist destinations of the world anyway and losing the UNESCO‘s seal of approval won’t do any real financial damage. So I‘m afraid nobody in the Venetian administration will care. When I arrived I saw one of the cruise ships anchoring on the Isola del Tronchetto and I‘m just waiting for it to appear in the Guidecca canal.

A wonderful foto, love it, Thelittlefoxes!

Thank you so much, Croisette!

Oh, thank you so much @Croisette7. I am so happy that you think so!

Always happy to be sisters @Agrume!

What a great look with your blazer and scarf @Agrume! And speaking of interesting ties...Your tea time is very pretty in pink. Such a cute, clean design.

Can't wait to see your A/W 2021 picks @ajaxbreaker. If they are even a fraction as great as your current collex we will be in for a treat when you model the

Thank you so much, @Cookiefiend. KO was a design I very much liked but I never ever wore the one I had-- just felt overpowered by it until I got this one and yes it is definitely coral

 @Nomad re enabling. This whole thread is a Giant Enablement! The minute I saw tea time I thought of you with the hearts. So cute!

Thank you @bunnycat. Luckily, I tripped over it on h.com and voila!

This is so lovely together-- blouse, earrings, scarf-- all perfect. (and I love the daring young men also...)
