My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

After crunching numbers I resemble @AnnaE ’s AA analogy...
 Hello, I’m turfNsurf &
I’m a Scarfaholic :cray:

I was blessed to have a wonderfully silky b-day, anni and xmas this year along with dear family who have honed in on my love of vintage H scarves. Of the  ahem, several dozen added to my collex this year, some were gifts and a few have yet to arrive.

Additions mainly stayed in my comfort zone of silk 90’s, but a pareo, a pointu, 2-CSPM and 2-CSGM made it into the mix as new-to-me formats.

Planets aligned and more than 10-Grails/p.Grails managed to come my way.

My Large Format nominees are:
Le Paradis duRoy GSGM, Cosmos CSGM,

That Cosmos CSGM is amazing. How did I not know that Cosmos came in CSGM? Is it rare? That would be a grail for sure. What other colorways it came in?

Totally off topic but I received fleurs de giverny yesterday in the mail and decided to throw it on for a grocery store run. Ultimately decided on ITCW as it has never left the house! My New Years resolution is to enjoy my scarves daily no matter the activity. Maybe ITCW can get the Oscarf for always a bridesmaid never a bride. Added a bonus pic of my cavapoo Sammy and Russian blue Sophie.

Not sure what I like more — your precious pets or your scarves!!!

Today’s award is brought to you by the color pink - I love pink (except for the dreaded pepto-bismol shade ) and find it a very flatteringly color for almost everyone. I’ve hosted the Pink Week in October, and never manage to show them all - because there is often a small hint of pink in many of my scarves.
This year I brought in 4 new pinks: Tigre Royal Fleuri, Ex Libris Parisiennes, Jardins de Soie, and L’Ivresse de L’infini.

Beautiful scarf mail!
Your NY resolution is a marvelous one - we should be wearing them, they are meant to be! ❤️
A lot of fabulousness you have going on there.
Thank you Cordie! ❤️
Went for a walk with another 2020 addition I forgot to tally up. This is 140 mousseline that was a special edition for the Beverly Hills boutique
So beautiful! ❤️

Hear hear!
I always have a bridesmaid in my tote because I bring minimum 2 scarves with me to work. This morning I was decidedly indecisive. I brought the whole wedding entourage :giggle: Shall wear a couple of them later.

 Never seen this cw b4!

I used to be only 90s when I first started. @bunnycat enabled me into buying gavs. Do I find gavs useful? Interesting question!
a) practical: I live in the tropics, so actually gavs are a good format as they are less warm because less cloth (depending on how you wear them of course)
b) pacifier: some designs are available in both 90 and gav, and I might not like the design enough to buy a 90 or I haven't found a 90 cw I like, but I think it's cute as a gav and it satisfies the craving for the design (Magic Kelly - I never did buy a 90 in the end)
c) price: gavs are cheaper - this really counts in seasons when I want too many designs and it stretches my budget
d) Versatility: I wear my gavs in pairs and like to mix and match
e) Men's collex: some of my fave gavs are the men's pocket squares

We could do a decision tree for this, but I have to admit that most of my gav purchases are visceral. OMG penguins! Buy! OMG dinosaurs! Buy! (I have no idea what the sweet male SAs at the men's dept think of me, but I hope they find me amusing :P )
This is me exactly. OMG that gav is so cute!...”add to cart”.
I do wear them though and have learned that there are lots of ways to knot them.
I like the pacifier reason the most......or I call it FOMO on a design.

One of my purchases this year is L’Entente Cordiale. In French, it means ‘cordial agreement,’ and there were several such agreements that took place over the year. It refers specifically to the relationship between the UK and France. In 1843, Queen Victoria visited king Louis-Philippe at the Château d’Eu. This was the first a British sovereign visited France since Henry VIII (which was in 1532 if I am not mistaken, and it had largely to do with Henry figuring out how to get rid of his first wife in favor of Anne Boleyn).

The meeting took place at Chateau d’Eu in Normandy, and this scarf was a special edition dedicated to that, I assume to the 150th anniversary of the visit. It’s a 1994 edition by Loïc Dubigeon.View attachment 4941099
What a lovely vintage design. I appreciate reds mixed with gold.
We should bulkbuy Liberty jammies
And totally off-topic but I wish to share my sorrow here: the very old and venerable department store where I bought my first Liberty scarf decades ago closed down a couple of months ago :crybaby: - it didn't survive the Covid-caused loss of business.

And to return to topic, this took the award for Most Unexpected Obsession 2020: the Hermes x Liberty scarves. I started the year with one, and now have around 6.

My first one:
