Yes same day! You can open cc at the store or online but you need to use it on the the same day I believe. I would call Saks and double check if you want to use on a different day. Also I believe you get 10% on all purchases during this day.... I think it is a very good deal. Especially on these bags that cost a fortunate. I was able to save $550 on the jumbo.

"Pending credit approval, first-time SaksFirst credit card applicants are eligible for a 10% discount one time only on all purchases made on account open day"
however, I remember reading further back in this thread that the %10 discount will apply to your first purchase which may not necessarily be on the same day the account is opened. I wasn't sure if the policy had change so it's nice to have clarification by someone who recently opened an account.
I wouldn't wanna risk losing out on the discount, so I'm going to wait until the bag I want comes in before opening up a Saks account.

Glad I stumbled upon this before going back into the store. Found a bag I now want, but will gladly wait it out for the 12 month no interest plus triple points and bonus points event. That may mean spending a little more since the bag in question has a 20% discount now, but, this is better than the current 6 month no interest deal. I see this from the interest accumulation perspective-should I pay off the amount in month 7 because I was aloof, I just handed myself a hefty interest fee. However, a year buys me time. No rush to pay off a balance that has no interest!

Question for all. For those of you with MPA and SaksFirst card, do you also have the MasterCard, whether it be the Platinum or the WEMC? Did you apply for all of them? If these accounts are truly separate, my assumption is that each account will generate a pull from the credit bureaus, but I want to know if each will be a hard pull.

I was approved for a saks card today at the off 5th store. I later went to a regular Saks store to apply for the mpa. The associate said that they'll mail me a letter in 7-10 as if I'm not approved. I called customer service and they're not telling me anything. I was trying to get everything taken care of since the 12 month promotion is coming up. Any idea why this happened? Did this happen to anyone else?
I applied for the Saks card at the store this past Mon, got approved and SA applied for the MPA and approved immediately as well and given the number. When is the 12 month promo?
In my case I already had a Saks charge card, so I simply approached a Sales Associate in Saks and asked to open a MPA, which they promptly did. I knew it had to be done in person. However, I did not need it on that particular shopping visit; like you, I was talking care of it in advance (of an upcoming triple points event). While the SA never mentioned to me a letter in 7 - 10 days, that doesn't mean it's inaccurate. Perhaps my SA didn't even know that. At any rate, I think I called a few days before the point event just to make sure I had the MPA account in place. I'm sure you'll have your answer if you call after the 7 - 10 day wait period, if not sooner.
Okay, I'll have to try again I guess. So annoying. I heard it starts next Thursday (2/4)
When you called did they say you had one? I just expected to receive an account number or something on the spot since I had to go to two stores. I'll try calling them again. Thanks!
