I had so so experiences with the Manhasset store however I don’t understand the comment about the experience feeling transactional. It is a transaction. Those employees are there to work not make friends.
IMO it’s more than just a transaction lol. You’re not just buying the item you’re buying Cartier (the brand is undeniably part of the reason the item is so expensive) and they promote themselves as being at a certain level of service and class and that should be reflected when dealing with the store and it’s representatives, I personally feel.

I live in Australia and have never shopped at the 5th Ave Mansion but from my experiences locally, I can say that:
1. Cleaning kit is not automatically provided. You might get a travel pouch and some catalogues/books with your purchase but that’s about it
2. Didn’t even know customers were able to select the serial number (I don’t care about that stuff as long as I’m not getting a display piece lol)
3. Certificate holder should be given but I’ve bought from the online boutique and didn’t get it (the three times I bought in person, it did come with the certificate holder)
4. If you are/plan to drop that kind of money at Cartier you do/should expect a decent level of customer service but for me personally, I do all the research myself before heading into the boutique. I know what I want and the only advice I might need from the SA is in relation to sizing if I am unsure. Ultimately the decision is mine on what I get.

I’ve been to the Melbourne boutiques (Collins Street & Chadstone) a few times (to browse and buy) but have only purchased in store about three times (different SA each time but always pleasant - my first SA was amazing but she stopped working at Cartier) - all my other pieces have been purchased through the online boutique.

I understand you want to establish a relationship with a good SA but if SA 1 isn’t up to your expectations, don’t shop with him anymore (how do they even know you have a track record with him?). I hope you do find a nice SA to work with otherwise try buying online (the packaging is amazing!)
I have no idea how they keep track, I didn't contact him... called store for appointment and they texted me back SA 1 is my "contact" I think it's diff per store/region. No idea.

I def had a similar experience in Manhasset last week! I had an appointment but was told that I had to wait because the previous appointments went over. There were two ladies ahead of me. We were all waiting outside for about 20 min when one of the ladies said something to the guy at the door and he compared us waiting for our appointments at Cartier to a doctors appointment!! What? It would have been nice if they allowed us to walk around as we waited for our appointment but we had to stand in line. After 30 min we were finally let into the store.
Once inside I kind of felt rushed. It was def not a personal experience. They didn’t have the bracelet that I wanted in stock so they had to order it for me. I was told that when it comes in I could drive up to the store and they would finish the transaction outside. UMM NO! I understand during covid times I won’t be getting Champagne but at the very least I would like to finish my transaction in the store. My husband was with me and he was not happy with the service. He felt that it was very transactional.
I bought my last piece at 5th Ave and it was an ok experience. The best experience so far was at Saks on 5th but of course they no longer sell Cartier. I recall that sales associate being amazing to work with.
I do understand things are not normal right now but at the very least we should be provided with semi consistent customer service or at least a friendly SA!
I don't think they allow you to browse the store either way due to capacity. COVID really did do a ton, but the other stuff does seem too transactional and I understand how you feel put off. I've worked with an SA named Rachel there and she is sweet. However, keep in mind that the Cartier at Manhasset is an Authorized Dealer and not part of their chain. That's what 5th ave mansion told me when I wanted to pick up a piece there. They can't pull up anything from that store or do transfer of items etc.

Yes, I understand that. I just felt that the attitude was you either want the item or you don’t... hurry up. I went in with the intentions of making a purchase but my experience was def not friendly. I’m not expecting to sit there having a conversation with the SA but I have had better experiences elsewhere. Just my experience.

For regular sales, I would agree it's purely transactional. But in luxury sales - it definitely is not. Most want loyal customers and often times, you're dealt with the same SA (sometimes whether you like it or not) For example, if I call with my number to Cartier Mansion, they automatically have my "account" linked with that particular SA 1... In luxury, they want these relationships. That's just what I see though.

That's how I feel too. The reason why I always shop boutique and pay extra then to save at department stores is for the level of service. :)

I did not know that, interesting. What I do not like is that everytime I call them I need to deactivate my call-number-supression.
Haha no idea. Maybe it's a US thing or just a Cartier Mansion thing... but I've been trying to get AWAYYY from that SA and they just keep referring him as "my SA" and I am like UGHHH... how do I get away from him. LOL

I didn’t realize that it was an authorized dealer until after! It’s funny because I believe London owns that Cartier and I recently had a good experience with them during covid times. The SA’s there were very friendly and no wait. But I guess the store is just larger in size in general which allows for more people.

Yes, most likely. It's interesting it's separate from the London and VCA though. Like Cartier is a standalone... oh well though, but next time you go, I definitely recommend you ask for Rachel. I haven't found a good SA at Cartier 5th ave yet, but maybe fancy trying Hudson Yards!

Last I heard Hudson Yards wasn’t taking appointments but they snuck my friend in to buy a watch  So try your luck! Violetta is great I hear.
