SA Recommendations!

Hi! I just wanted to see if anyone had any insight on this. I shopped at 5th avenue mansion and bought 2 pieces within this COVID period and worked with 3 SA's (had to come back one extra time to pick up a ring they didn't have in stock when I paid for it the 2nd time I went... and to look at more pieces to potentially purchase) However, all 3 SA's did not really click with me... They were polite, but I still felt like customer service was lacking. And it seems like they keep referring to the first SA I purchased from to be my "point of contact".

SA 1 - Was polite but didn't really offer any insight. Sent me home without a cleaning kit with my purchase (as if that was the norm). I inquired about it and then he said they were out, but I was free to come back anytime and pick one up. (IMO, shouldn't you have mentioned that before? What if I was not a frequent Cartier shopper and didn't know?) I also requested to pick out serial number for my bracelet and he just asked what number I was looking for and came back and said they don't have anything without even offering me an alternative to what I had. (Paris SA I usually shop with would bring back a few pieces or jot down numbers for me to choose from, even if they had limited stock - just to see which number I would prefer.) IDK if I'm spoilt by Paris SA but due to these things, I was eh with SA 1, especially since the purchase was for me and SO's 8 year anniversary... He also did not give me the certificate holder either... and mentioned no word of it.

(PS: Paris SA - I only shopped with once... so it's not like I had track record with Cartier there either...)

SA 2 - I went back in to see the new slim Juc with diamonds and purchase a thin JUC ring for my SO. SA 1 wasn't there so she was just filling in for him, she was just okay. Nothing wrong with her, just didn't particularly click with her, and also nothing to write home about. She was probably best out of the three. I went back a 3rd time and she was there and she remembered us and greeted us cheerfully.

SA 3 - We went in the pick up the ring we got when we saw SA 2 (we paid for it first and they had to ship the size over for pick up.) We went in and I needed to use the restroom and he just told me to go up the elevator to the 2nd floor (I know it's on the 4th floor... -__-) but I went to 2nd and couldn't find restroom, as I headed to 4th floor, another associate asked why we are not being escorted, as that is proper procedure. I was confused too, because that was usually how it worked as well... I'm not sure if that guy was just so lazy as to not even escort me and my SO to the restroom. When we came back down, he asked a series of weird questions about the piece we got (I can't even remember what the questions were, they just sounded like babble and he didn't know what his customers were here for.) He did not offer us any beverages at all during my one hour stay there to look at multiple items (it's not due to COVID, SA 2 next to us was working with another couple and they were offered drinks). He also kept telling me the thin JUC in sz 15 was too small for me... even though I've seen it without diamonds before and tried it on in London, Paris, Manhasset, NY and they all tell me sz 15 is perfect for me. (He said this as he was putting it on me...) Makes me feel like this guy does not know his stuff! I did not have a good shopping mood throughout, so did not want to spend a dime with him. At the end, he told us to contact SA 1 if we ever decide we want anything.

Long story and rant I know! But NY Cartier Mansion has done nothing for the amount of money I spent on them thus far. I have had much better experience with my new SA at VCA down the block. SA always keep me posted, make great recommendations, and even mail me gifts. (AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PARENT COMPANY HOW?)

Long story short, does anyone have similar experiences here? Or do any of you have a great SA at this location and can refer me? Can I even request to switch primary SA's at this point? PLEASE HELP... I still have several pieces I need to get, and I doubt with COVID I can fly to Paris anytime soon... and I want a better shopping experience. TIA

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear about your experience, it’s very hit and miss (generally). The first time I went to the 5th Ave mansion I felt like me and my SA clicked just because she was so positive and helpful and I was very excited to be there!

Next time I went I was also with someone “on her behalf” and he was generally fine but i think they don’t really have the same incentive. By the end of the appointment he matched my energy level but at first it was sort of dry, and when buying these things I feel like it should be an experience that you always remember and can tie to the piece (i’m a romantic)

More than happy to recommend the SA I worked with as I plan to work w her in the future! Just PM me (:

Also not for nothing but i’ve heard similar things about Chanel Rue Cambon - a MUCH better experience generally than shopping in America (also take into account American culture is way different when it comes to service IMHO)

Yes, I'm the same way, I like a good SA to connect with and I'm super loyal and attached. So I will definitely go out of my way for them, especially during holidays (gifts and making purchases) for them to feel special as well. So it really left a bad taste in my mouth after 3 misses at Cartier. My SAs at Chanel SOHO (I have diff ones for diff department - shoes, accessories/bag, make up) are the joy of my life. Rue Cambon Chanel is fab as well, I have an SA I shop with every year I visit Paris. Sweetest ever and know so much history behind the brand! But yes, I'm definitely out to "shop" for the perfect SA!

Aww! That’s fantastic (and if you don’t mind PM’ing me the name of your Chanel RC SA I would really appreciate for when/if I can ever travel to Paris). I would just make an appointment again online and see who you get or request a recommended SA.

This is sort of random but what kinds of gifts do you get your SAs around the holidays? It’s only been over the past 6 months or so that I’ve started really investing in my SAs and with the holidays coming up i’m kind of nervous lol a box of nice chocolates is usually my go to

Hi! I will see if I can find her card for you. And as for gifts, I get them chocolates or holiday packages like graham crackers or nuts and pretzels so they can share with coworkers. So you're definitely on the right track with the box of chocolates. It's rough being in customer service so the sweethearts do deserve a treat!

I live in Australia and have never shopped at the 5th Ave Mansion but from my experiences locally, I can say that:
1. Cleaning kit is not automatically provided. You might get a travel pouch and some catalogues/books with your purchase but that’s about it
2. Didn’t even know customers were able to select the serial number (I don’t care about that stuff as long as I’m not getting a display piece lol)
3. Certificate holder should be given but I’ve bought from the online boutique and didn’t get it (the three times I bought in person, it did come with the certificate holder)
4. If you are/plan to drop that kind of money at Cartier you do/should expect a decent level of customer service but for me personally, I do all the research myself before heading into the boutique. I know what I want and the only advice I might need from the SA is in relation to sizing if I am unsure. Ultimately the decision is mine on what I get.

I’ve been to the Melbourne boutiques (Collins Street & Chadstone) a few times (to browse and buy) but have only purchased in store about three times (different SA each time but always pleasant - my first SA was amazing but she stopped working at Cartier) - all my other pieces have been purchased through the online boutique.

I understand you want to establish a relationship with a good SA but if SA 1 isn’t up to your expectations, don’t shop with him anymore (how do they even know you have a track record with him?). I hope you do find a nice SA to work with otherwise try buying online (the packaging is amazing!)

I def had a similar experience in Manhasset last week! I had an appointment but was told that I had to wait because the previous appointments went over. There were two ladies ahead of me. We were all waiting outside for about 20 min when one of the ladies said something to the guy at the door and he compared us waiting for our appointments at Cartier to a doctors appointment!! What? It would have been nice if they allowed us to walk around as we waited for our appointment but we had to stand in line. After 30 min we were finally let into the store.
Once inside I kind of felt rushed. It was def not a personal experience. They didn’t have the bracelet that I wanted in stock so they had to order it for me. I was told that when it comes in I could drive up to the store and they would finish the transaction outside. UMM NO! I understand during covid times I won’t be getting Champagne but at the very least I would like to finish my transaction in the store. My husband was with me and he was not happy with the service. He felt that it was very transactional.
I bought my last piece at 5th Ave and it was an ok experience. The best experience so far was at Saks on 5th but of course they no longer sell Cartier. I recall that sales associate being amazing to work with.
I do understand things are not normal right now but at the very least we should be provided with semi consistent customer service or at least a friendly SA!

I had so so experiences with the Manhasset store however I don’t understand the comment about the experience feeling transactional. It is a transaction. Those employees are there to work not make friends.

Yes, I understand that. I just felt that the attitude was you either want the item or you don’t... hurry up. I went in with the intentions of making a purchase but my experience was def not friendly. I’m not expecting to sit there having a conversation with the SA but I have had better experiences elsewhere. Just my experience.
