I completely understand your point of view and esp. because you are working with Madison Ave and BH , both of which are probably the two busiest shops in U.S. -- but it is frustrated for us all at times.

Chicago had a violet croc Jige (don't know the size?) not so long ago.....

Ella honey,
you are quite clever
Learning how this world works is fascinating, isn't it?
yesterday, my husband (who knows who he is...)pops into Hermes to pick up my SO,
wearing Levi's, black leather jacket & collared nike s/s shirt, sneaks.
Im sure he got the "evil eyes"!!!!
I phoned my SA while he was there, just in case i needed to speed up the process!!!!
He has taught me
that to win a moral victory at the expense of your sanity is dumb!
good luck honeypie!!!
angie

thank you so much ladies!!! especially for letting me know about the gorgeous crocs you've seen around! and for your support.
i know some SA's read this, i'm aware of that after the fact. so i hope they dont take this as a personal insult. i just wanted to vent. :angel:now its time to muster up the courage to ask how much these croc Jige's are going to cost me.... :sweatdrop::wtf:

Oooo ... I promise to stay out of trouble, so I won't address your post directly, Croissant. All I want to say here, is that every H store has its own practice, and there is no "blanket-all". Some stores have SAs who openly invite customers to place SOs. Others (the majority actually) reserve their SO quotas for their VVIPs.

Yes this is true for my store as well.

HG described me as the Soup Nazi the last time I tried to explain the whole H system...... really very appropriate here. Just think of H as the Soup Nazi (for those who are not Seinfeld viewers...got to watch it!).

^^ My goodness I laughed when I read that. That is EXACTLY how I felt after my first Hermes visit, after I had rushed-in and asked how the Birkin waiting list worked. NO BIRKIN FOR YOU!!

Well I must say you are further along then I.
I went into the hermes Boutique and they were so nasty. We wasn't trying to buy a birkin, just wanted to look around. Is there a dress code or a age requirement when entering a Hermes Boutique? If so maybe thats the reason, I had on A BeBe jogging suit and I look like I was 16.
Well I will try again, I will play dress up and were make up, then maybe
just maybe they will at least answer questions.

My SA told me there is no SO while another time with another SA, she told me yes, there is. And this happen in the same store.

Oh well, I may not a VIP in her eyes but in this case, I do not have to be loyal to her either.

oh, i just thought of this- many ladies here said that in Paris, they ask about what's in stock and the SA looks it up on the computer. When i have asked in BH, there is no 'looking up inventory" in computers, just the pat answer of "noooo, i'm soooorry" and a shaking of the head and a *sigh*. i wonder if this is a "pat" answer like i mentioned and they know very well what's in stock, or if this is because inventory is much smaller in BH than at FSH in Paris where they'd literally need a computer system to keep track of what's in store. (i should mention im talking about Birkins and Kelly's mainly)

casa- i have seen teenagers buying twilly's and scarves at Hermes both in Beverly Hills and in NYC and both places the SA's treated them the same. i think it's got to do with a power trip because yes, the SA's do have the upperhand whether you admit it or not in this scenario, and also i think many SA's don't like for you to waste their time [this is completely not your fault and you shouldnt have to take it just because someone else had a bad day on the job) in any case, just be confident and gracious when you walk in and deflect any attitude.

^ The Special Orders are presented at Podium. You pay for the bag when it comes in but you're not required to if you don't want it.

At my boutique, the deadline is even after the podium, a couple of weeks give or take.

However, if you want to change it after it is ordered, it needs to be within reason. It is very difficult to change from a normal leather to a exotic, especially since the boutique has probably already filled up its exotic quota with other orders.

The main store in Paris is much bigger and with so many SAs going to fetch bags for customers it's difficult to say from minute to minute what is actually in stock, so yes, they need to check their database. But that doesn't mean they're rolling in kellys and birkins every day. Contrary to what people say they typically do NOT receive shipments every day and there are days when there are absoutely no birkins or kellys available.
