^ I know, but I still wouldn't support a business that allows employees to treat customers like that :s
Yes definitely, but I probably would have bought my stuff then and never returned. But I can't really say what I would have done in her situation, but just because there is one bad apple doesn't mean the whole business is bad. The women at my Clinique counter are so nice and I always make sure to go to Macys.com/tellus afterward to tell them about my experience.

Having worked in cosmetics before, I'm appalled that the other SA did that.

Truthfully, I will say that we made those kind of comments in private because we do get a lot of customers around here who literally will just scout out counters for samples (we have a particular one we call "Sam-poo Lady"). Many end up eBaying them for money -- ARGH! They never buy anything.

But that said, I can't believe she said that about a PAYING customer! That's outrageous. By the way, if your Macy's is a more pro-customer store (like they bend over backwards for all customers type of thing), I would suggest calling the store back and reporting her to the store manager. That's the only way Clinique would find out about it and they really emphasize customer service at that brand.

But don't let this experience with Clinique change your opinion of the eye cream. That All About Eyes Rich is some fabulous stuff!

Well, honestly I think it was also a little rude what you said, no offense. believe me I know how it feels dealing with rude people all the time because of my job. It's easy to get fed up and want to lash out at others when you are treated in a way that it less than what you deserve.. like me at the taco bell counter with another customer who tried to walk off with my order! lol
looking at it from another perspective it sounds like the older SA was maybe getting frustrated with the younger one because she made a mistake. ( she was probably in training and it probably wasn't the first mistake she made that day, which could be where the frustration came from) It seems like she was trying to reprimand the other employee and maybe embarrass her for "not knowing the products" rather than take a shot at you. Were you wearing clinique shadows that day? cuz if you weren't she could probably tell ( MUA's can really tell the difference when it comes to products)

Yes it came off as rude, at I can see why it seems like it was directed at you, but I think perhaps it wasn't intended that way. Maybe it was more like ( to the other employee) " see you don't know what you're doing you can't even tell our own products" However she could have been more tactful because it's natural for a customer to become insulted..you probably felt like she was trying to say you aren't a valued customer or don't deserve respect just because you "don't use" the products..which was very wrong and thoughtless of her

Just some thoughts...

what a meanie!!

Not everyone goes makeup shopping with pounds of makeup!! I wear makeup just about everyday..but when I go makeup shopping I barely put much on.

That SA wasn't ver smart.

You shouldn't have to empty out your makeup bag. PERIOD!!

free samples are for anyone who wants them, and anyway you WERE a paying customer.

she probably took a glance at her paycheck and thats what got her upset. LMAO kiddin

I know it's supposed to be a joke..but some MUA 's actually make good money. Like 16- 18 bucks an hour. Not GREAT money but still pretty good. Plus if they are doing something they love, more power to them.

I've had it with Macy's. I went in the other day to Nar's and I really wanted to try out a bunch of stuff and buy becuase I changed my haircolor. The girls stood there chatting forever before they even acknowledged me, then when she finally did she acted like she didn't want to sell me anything. Had I had time to drive to a Nordstrom I would have. I was pretty ticked. Figures on the day that I really want to buy a lot I Get an airhead to deal with.

but being rude to a consumer is absolutely unnacceptable!!

SA= Sales Assistant. emphasis on Assistant!! as in assist the client!! that lady was not doing that!

i'm so glad you stood up for yourself!

i'm a clinique fan and have yet to have a bad experience at their counter *knock on wood* -- but makeup counters in general make me self conscious, i'm always scared that i'll be told what i should be buying and have my flaws pointed out.

How rude!

And since when are the samples been reserved for the people who just wear the specific brand... Isn't the point of giving a sample the chance of a new customer?
