I have way to many.
I agree with everything you're saying here! I also want to wear out all of my bags and use them to the fullest. I'm on handbag ban because I want to invest more money every month, and save more. I feel like I could and should have saved more money in the last few years. I want to save my money for investing and save my time for other hobbies and pursuits.I've actually decided that unless one of my current bags completely falls apart, I'm done buying handbags. Current prices are just exorbitant and hard to justify. One can be fashionable in other ways with higher impact than having the newest it bag. I'm not participating in the consumption culture anymore. I feel like I'm barely making use of my current collection of 9 bags. For me, bags are functional, not display trophies.
I was just in Paris. I saw so many stylish people, almost none of them were carrying designer bags. I feel like I see many people who use their designer bags as a crutch, wearing uninspired clothing and relying on the bag to amp up the outfit. It's honestly lazy fashion.I agree with everything you're saying here! I also want to wear out all of my bags and use them to the fullest. I hear this!I need to go on a bag ban, but I’m not quite there yet!
I'm putting more money into savings and investing too. I set up automatic transfers into those accounts every month and then I budget like I don't have that money. This thread made me check - when did I purchase my last bag? It was July of last year. I haven’t bought any other bags since then. I have been very busy with work stuff, therefore, don’t even have time to hang out with friends or shop. I am not on a ban per se, but being more mindful about shopping.
Although my last bag purchase was July of last year, it doesn’t mean I didn’t spend money elsewhere. I got a wallet and a ring. I know I really need to curb my spending. I have put more money into retirement, so hopefully this intentional saving helps. Out of sight, out of mind.
Maybe sell some of those bags and replace with a couple of bags that fit your lifestyle now? Sometimes I hang on to stuff because I don’t want to take a loss but it’s better to get rid of it and buy something that‘s practical and a good fit for your lifestyle’s needs.I'm on a verge of a ban. So much money spent on moving to a new place recently and getting new furniture for it, plus a new business not exactly being a great success yet, so understandably my dearest husband is not completely thrilled with me wanting to buy a new bag for an upcoming occasion. I already struggled to get a new outfit ("don't you have something in your closet already?" and I didn't) which he graciously ok'd but he's struggling with the shoes, bag and rest of the "unnecessary" accessories that men struggle to understand.
Yes, I have many, many handbags but all of them are either too cumbersome to be used or just not the style I want to carry right now. I try to get bags that are timeless but I might have failed. I have way too many bags that just feel too big, the shape is not ideal or they are made of very hard leather which I don't seem to get along most of the time.
