Soooooo, I got my Ruby Rogue 25 from the latest sale today. This is my first Rogue from the MOST RECENT offerings. I already have a 2nd gen black, olive regular sz & beatnik & oxblood 25s that are a couple years old.
I was struck by a few things which I thought I'd share...
First, although seeming to come from JAX, had a Coach New York dust bag, not a 1941 one. Hmmmm...
Second, the handles on this bag are much thinner than any other Rogue I have.
Lastly, the leather is just not near as pebbled & supple as much of my other 1941 items. Seemed thinner & a bit "dry" looking.
The leather quality is the saddest for me. The other things I can deal with given the sale price but if these changes are things we are seeing all the way around, why isn't the price reflective of that (dare I say cheaper)?
Is my logic or experience off? Welcome your thoughts!
If you drop by any Coach retail store, you can ask for the 1941 dust bag saying they didn't ship you one.

From my experience with them this month, there's a number of issues with their warehouse packing/distribution due to the holiday sale period. They're literally understaffed so some of my items didn't even come with a dust bag or came a little hurriedly packed. All the 1941 bags I ordered did come with the 1941 dust bag though, so I think it's more of a oversight/mistake than cost-cutting measures though.

About the thinner leather, does the new Rogue feel lighter than than your older ones?

Thanks for the tip! I will ask.
The only other 25 I have is
I saw this online and it captured my curiosity. I didn't realize it has snake details on it. I'd love to see it IRL! Just when I swore off buying more rogues....but this one looks unique which is something I love! It looks more rose gold in the stock photo. Was it more rose IRL?
Me too! Yes, it was more rose in person.

I have the 1941 Red Rogue but not the Ruby Red, however, I do remember comparing it at the store with the Ruby Red. The 1941 Red is a true solid red, IMO, the best red Coach has offered. The Ruby red has more of an orange under tone to it, not as a solid red tone as the 1941. Hopefuly, someone can chime in more as I’m not good at descriptions!
Thanks a lot!

Well crap. I got the ebay 25 in dark saddle and this is the first time I feel like I received something not as described. She said she used it only a month and it is obvious that the edgekote has been repaired (still has cracks though) and there's a sticky substance inside one of the side pockets. Overall it looks like much more wear than 1 month. Not that the bag is in terrible condition but it certainly wasn't described as what I actually received. This color is no longer available. What would you do? I hate complaining but dang it. If I had known about the edges I might not have bid on it. All 4 corners are like this. Does this look like an attempt at repair? None of my others look like this.20181217_141447[1].jpg 20181217_141510[1].jpg

Am I being too picky?
NO! None of mine look like that & they are used...waaaaay more than a month. I guess everyone handles their bags differently but gosh! Even the chipped hardware. If it were me, I'd contact the seller & point out those issues (assuming those are your pics, not the seller's). My husband has done that with some things that he has ordered and sometimes they are willing to refund some money. You'd have to determine whether or not you're willing to accept it for a lower price, assuming they would be up for that. Disappointing, I'm sure.

No yours don't. These are my pics and I sent them to her through ebay. We'll see how she responds. I do love the color.

I checked it closer and the edge coating is coming up in quite a few places. Can this be fixed by Coach if I decide to keep it?

No. If the seller did not disclose all the problems, especially the cracked edging and chipped hardware, then you should return it.
I sold a Rogue that had chipped hardware and showed photos of all of it on eBay. I'd send the seller an email and see what she/he will do about it. Do you want a full refund or do you want a discount? That's part of the consideration here.

Well I am still considering what I want to do. Can the edge coat be fixed? Is the cracking that big of a deal to the wear of the bag from here on out? The fact that I can't get this color any longer except on the secondary market is making the decision harder. They don't come up often. There are no smells which is great. I think I can get the sticky stuff out.

What would be a fair discount off of $300 to keep it? $75? I have no idea. I think the price I paid is high for what I actually got.

The saddle color was 50% off last year, not saying the seller didn't buy it full price but $300 is high with the cracking of the sealing which sometime is not a easy fix. Personally I would return it.
