A colleague mentioned he had no interest whatsoever in the RF. I just mention that it’s the end of an era and a historical moment and left it at that. Nothing to explain. It’s like why some people like K pop and others like classical music right? People differ in their interests and that’s fine.

Day 1 of no Queen not feeling any better
I have had a lifetime of that being an Elvis fan - you either get it or you don’t - if you don’t you have my genuine sympathy
I've been asked why this matters to me and I've answered by saying Her Majesty was very important to me. She was someone who possessed many qualities I strive to possess & her absence will leave a large void for me.That is the difficulty.
But what else can you say except: "You just don't understand!"
Or what would you answer if somebody asked you directly and openly:
"Why are you interested in this nonsense?"

I found it really hard to look at that empty coffin without the crown and insignias. Obviously Charles needs them, but it's so...final.

To my German relatives I explained it this way:
Queen Elizabeth has been around in this world like a constant friend somehow.
And now she is gone.
Though I have never met her - I associate her with different phases in my life.
Here is a bit of old news from the year 1965.
Queen Elizabeth then was at a state visit to German - and visited the Salem School near the lake of Constance.
I have been to another school then and there - quite near to Salem.
I might have nearly met her then and there - but only nearly.
Still - it was big news then that she was so near.

I've always said, Kate looks her best with her hair back, especially the way her people style it so elegantly.
I'd assume that much of the Queen's wardrobe and shoes and hats and handbags will be preserved in some way? Archived as part of the Royal Collection with occasional exhibitions and displays?
I hope that some of her gowns and bags though make it to Princess Anne and her granddaughters. She was petite so fit and length might be an issue, though Bea looked lovely at her wedding in that vintage gown of the Queen's. If the Queen's handbag collection was so huge too, maybe a few of them could go to family members? It'd be fun to see those things pop up occasionally.
