Ronald Reagan also loved horses and he and HMTQ spent a couple of days on the 1983 visit riding at his ranch near Santa Barbara. During this visit to California they also ate at a restaurant in SF and held a state dinner at the DeYoung museum, also in SF.

The original plan was to have HMTQ and PP travel up the California coast on the Britannia, but the weather was too stormy so they flew into SF and had some extra days here.

I never gave it much thought, but it turns out that when these visits are being planned, they solicit ideas on what the guests would like to see/do. There are a number of photos of HMTQ visiting Yosemite on this trip. But the most surprising to me is that on a different trip the Queen asked to see a college football game. I never would have thought that she would even have heard of college football! But who knows, maybe she put that on the list because PP was interested to see a game.
Yes, they both loved horses and riding so much. Here is a photo of them riding together from 1982 when he visited her at Windsor.

I have a feeling that once the last people in the queue file in and the lying-in-state is officially over at 6.30am, the junior members and full body of staff from the Royal Household will be quietly let in to say their goodbyes in private. I don't think they've had that chance yet because the overnight stay at BP was for the family. It would be very fitting if so.
