HM The Late Queen Elizabeth II and 'Mummy'

I've always called my mother "Mummy" and got so much flak for it in college from my roommates saying I'm calling home to speak to my "Mommy". I always corrected them, but they never seemed to know the difference. It's nice to see a grow up Queen calling her mother "Mummy". Take that, old roomies! :P

She doesnt have her own thread so I will drop it here. Tilda Swinton also waited in The Queue
 Tilda is a descendant of Scottish royalty herself, as well as having known Diana personally, so this tribute is even more special in context. If anyone had the right to use the VIP queue, it was her. I've always been a fan and am a bigger one now!

I dug out my triple strand and mulling over whether it’s too much to wear to work tomorrow. But at minimum, will be in pearl studs to honour this wonderful woman.

Beautiful! Love the length, love the clasp, love the pears. Absolutely, wear them and be happy.
Pearl girls know what is important :coolio:

A few days ago I mentioned I will be wearing my diamond and pearl brooch on Monday. I'm definitally wearing my earrings, too. I'm not sure about my strand of pearls. I have one that is not a full strand, I'll probably wear that. I don't want to over do it at the office. It's my small token of a tribute to a lovely woman.

Pity I lent my pearl and diamond earings to my DD only 2 days ago, as she had a 50th birthday party in Naples last night. I won't get them back by tomorrow. So exceptionally I'll wear my various strings of pearls, including my grandmother's, in honour of our beloved Queen. As I said a few pages back, I love pearls but not on me, so I NEVER wear them, but I will tomorrow!

This was actually when the Queen was lying in state in Scotland, I don't believe there was a VIP queue there.

Just found this on Facebook. So down to earth and completely not full of herself.

Thank you for posting this. I watched the Queen’s departure from Scotland and it was apparent that this aircraft was chosen for its utility rather than beauty, although as a Private Pilot I have to say that all aircraft are beautiful. It was the first week that my DIL was back teaching after the summer, and we watched the takeoff on the BBC on our big screen TV with our 2 year old grandson. I explained the taxi procedure, the preflight where the flaps were moved and tested, and the flashing red lights were lit. After the engines were started and it taxied to the runway, I had him listen to the engines spool up and the aircraft start down the runway and lift into the air. He watched in fascination then grabbed the only airplane we had in the house, a puzzle piece from his types of transportation vehicles puzzle, and began running around the room flying his airplane. We have since purchased a proper toy airplane for him, but I will never forget when his interest in aviation began. Blessings on Her Majesty The Queen.
