I'm so sorry for your loss. Grief is a weird monster that tends to hit when we least expect it. Please be gentle with yourself at this time. :hugs:
Thank you. Watching the reverence and love by the family to the loss of HM is really touching. The RESPECT shown to her by the people of her lands is truly moving and inspiring.

Indeed. What moves me most is the fact that she actually earned every bit of respect that is being shown. It's not commanded of the people, they are happy to show their love in whatever way they can. It says everything about HMQ that she could connect with everyone. She was one of a kind and a true role model.

As a U.S. citizen, I have been thinking of a way to honor and pay tribute to such an amazing role model for females everywhere. I am going to be wearing my pearl and diamond brooch on Monday for her. Her Majesty's warm smile, colored outfits, diamonds and pearl jewelry is how she's etched in my memory.

My brooches don't receive enough love, I hope I change that.

We're doing similar here, both daughter and I (it's been a long time since my avatar -- she's in college now and home every weekend). We're doing pearls right through (I have plenty as Pearl is my first name), especially for church. Burberry bags. Hubby gave me a Thomas Bear in a trench coat last year, and I never intended to hang it on a bag because I don't want to wear him out, don't want to damage the leather that he hangs by. But he's going everywhere with me right now.

@CobaltBlu I believe you're the mod for this thread (sorry if I'm wrong). I'm uncertain if this breaks TPF rules as it is the ex-PM and may be seen as political (?)
Please delete if needed. Thank you.

Regardless of her politics, which I did *not* even follow as an American, I always loved whatever I saw of Theresa May because she always struck me as dignified and a woman quiet and serene in her strength. Quite frankly, she always reminded me a little of Audrey fforbes-Hamilton, for those who know To the Manor Born. Believes what she believes and will not back down.

Can someone shed light on why David Beckham need to wait in line? He has met the Queen and been to royal weddings and events. Why wouldn't he receive a private funeral invitation, or at least be in a faster line for friends and family?
He didn't need to, he chose to. Like Theresa May, they are trying to communicate that we are all equal, as subjects of HM, and equal in our shared grief. If HMQ could work until her very last days to serve her people, then the least they can do is show respect and stand in queue for their turn.
Many MPs and minor celebrities are choosing to use the VIP queue, which is considerably shorter, but a handful of celebs are sending a powerful message by waiting in the "regular" queue. I applaud them for that choice. It doesn't even feel like a PR stunt, it feels sincere. This is especially true since no news of May or Beckham leaked while they were waiting, and it only got released after they paid their respects.
