She is a part time seller now, every one wants to be a seller

saw another youtuber like this. She’s a VIP in dior and that’s her “branding” on youtube. So she set up a personal shopper page to use her perks as VIP. Now everyone wants to be a personal shopper because the business is lucrative.

I really think that the best way to curb this is when travel becomes possible again. Lesser people (those that are unable to travel/don’t have a nearby boutique/ don’t want to go through the hassle/ willing to pay) would rely on resellers. And with so many resellers having popped up, competition is high and some of them would lose sales and (hopefully) go out of business.

This kind of business model (hoarding and reselling at a high price I mean) is really unsustainable. Yeezys are a great example of this. Each release was limited. People were mad and were willing to buy THREE TIMES the retail price. Lots of hoarding happened and there was even issues of FAKES getting mixed in and marketed as authentic.... But because yeezys kept releasing something, people who weren’t able to get something the previous release actually find something they like (or even better) in the next batch. The resellers ended up lowering their mark up or even just selling it on retail.

With the vaccination and reopening of some countries on going, and with Chanel somehow re-releasing unicorn colors (caramel in 21p and 21a, ivory iridescents in 20 and 21)... and especially with the high retail price of chanel to begin with (that mark ups can get really unappealing), let’s see what happens to such resellers in the long run

I agree... I think when life starts back up again and people start getting distracted by real life, and spending their disposable income again on things like vacations and travel, demand will naturally shrink and many of these resellers will be sitting on a pile of bags they can't sell.

There is a whole slew of IG resellers that aren’t even being addressed here that are buying way more than some of the ones that have been brought up.
What about this little cabal of sellers that have teamed up to get items en masse from Europe & Asia?
And ones that get their friends who are SAs at Saks to key in new CC account 10% discount & gift send with no tax but charge the buyer not only full price plus tax but add a fee of 10% on top of what they pocket from the discount & no tax?
This problem is way bigger. This thread doesn’t even scratch the surface.
Like where is Luxxlover getting 10 pairs of the coveted CC button earrings at once? And kocengayang79? And luxurytholic? chanel_cmyk? The list is endless.
I know there’s more but those are the ones I can think of right now.
Who else?

I don’t like premium price but where I’m located ie Hong Kong , mainlanders bought up most stock and some style I like ie some tops n seasonal handbags from Chanel never came into Hong Kong . I reached out luxxlover n luxurytholic on Instagram to source the items I wanted. When I paid I know it’s premium ie much higher than Hong Kong retail but I want them so badly so I decided to go ahead . Later on I found out luxurytholic sent me items from China n United Kingdom & Luxxlover from Japan as shown on the receipts they provided . I was curious how much they charged so I converted the prices on receipts into Hong Kong dollars , the prices are nearly 20% over Hong Kong retail . Not trying to side any resellers but they are more helpful than my local boutiques who only sells to VIPs ie those Hong Kong ladies sell on Facebook groups. Sigh .
I have only purchased from three resellers on Instagram so far two out of the three are fabulous. There are also local personal shoppers pages on Facebook in Hong Kong which I have used . Their prices are much reasonable but they can’t get hold of any popular items I want as they shop in Hong Kong which very limited stock available.

yes I noticed too she keeps buying & selling with fees. Is there no limit applied on purchases in the USA? Also can’t people reach out & buy via SAs remotely? Just don’t understand why someone would want to pay over retail if item is readily found in stores. I enjoyed her content but yes now it’sbit off putting.

Last year my daughter wanted the CF tweed houndstooth bag with the Chanel ribbon really bad. She’s a VP at a hospital and has been working 7 days a week, some days 14 to 15 hours a day. So I was searching, as was my sister, trying to find her that bag. I have an excellent SA with NM who was following up on other NM SA posts on Instagram that I was forwarding to her. And every time the SA’s would tell mine that they had just sold the bags. But the bags weren’t showing up in the inventory. Her store manager even started calling their store managers asking why the SA’s were posting the bags on Instagram in the first place. Two months into this game the same two SA’s started posting that they had the bags again. This time I went ahead and messaged and texted both of them. After some back and forth with each of them they finally admitted they didn’t have the bags. My SA kept checking the inventory and these SA’s did not indeed have the bags. Around that time I noticed that some of these resellers were using one of the SA’s pictures, which made me very suspicious about all of them. Just when I decided to give up and buy her one of the over priced ones on FP a SA at the Beverly Hills store called my SA and said they had received one. I was so thrilled that I could get this bag for my daughter.

LOLOLOLOL you kill me. BRING IT! You have no ground, no basis and have no idea who I even am do you?? What an incredibly ridiculous thing to come post on here, actually believing you have some merit? Or ground? That only underscored everything everyone says about you, not the opposite.

I was so glad to see your reply. I couldn’t believe she was stupid enough to say that. Although I shouldn’t be with the amount of lies and excuses she has posted over and over.

Doesn’t it make you mad knowing that the reason you couldn’t get the bags on your own is because the exact 2 resellers you mentioned (but not just them) buy up the inventory? Especially in Asia Pac. Those boutiques have the least oversight which is why all of the resellers who have been banned from buying here have had to start getting them from the Asia Pac boutiques.

I've not used re-sellers but I have used Personal Shopping services.

Back when Chanel still made the caviar minis, I was only able to get one because I got lucky and kept ring the boutique till one day 2 were delivered. I literally had to drop my work in the middle of the day to go down there. Arrived just in time as someone else was there buying the other one. I can't make a habit of just disppearing middle of a work day or keep ringing the boutique every day whilst I'm at work, so I would be prepared to pay fees for a PS to do that for me.

The way I think about it is even if those resellers/PS hadn't bought a popular bag that I wanted, there's still very small chance I'd have got it, given so many people wanted the same bag, I live in a city with a lot of tourist footfall (pre-covid) and I'm time poor. So that isn't what bothers me. What shocks me is the sheer volume of bags they get and the amount they add ontop. I feel like it's definitely gone up massively since covid hit.

Yep. Unfollowed and unsubscibed from hello catwalk city. I used to enjoy her videos also.

agreed. I unsubscribed to her as well. I followed her when she first started her channel. She was much or relatable in the sense that she is a working mom with a very curated collection and would give great reviews on bags for a working mom in living the city. But now her channel has become not as enjoyable to watch as she seems to be doing more unboxings and such. Her content hasn’t been as informative, well at least for me it hasn’t been as informative

I agree, I think unboxings are all fine - no problem. But where the problem lies is when purchases are done and shortly sold -most probably at profit. Or when she keeps buying and selling with fees on top in turn generating not just profit for her but also pushing her up to get more gifts / access to hard to find items with her SAs or contacts. It comes across as opportunist and someone who is not authentic. How can one’s ultimate holy grail item be so easily sold, I won’t be surprised if she sells her chanel mini gold square or even the rectangle mini in caramel at some point. I can’t see her keeping both for sure.. watch this space.
