Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

I think the SA's also work with the resellers . Probably they get commission from these resellers & personal shoppers.
How else would they get all the unicorn bags & hard to find items ??!!

I think this is true. There is this one SA in a big department store (not Chanel boutique though). She posts items from LV, Dior etc available in their store on her IG. On the same day, this reseller posts exact same pictures on her IG story. I never bothered to ask if they know each other but I’m sure they do. The pictures are the same and I think the SA allows it. I’m just waiting for perfect time and I will ask if they know each other. It makes sense. If I’m a reseller and I see this SA posting items available online, I can post it and offer to my followers and make a profit of it. :/

From what I’ve heard from multiple SA’s are that they are really cracking down on the personal shoppers and resellers. Many are now supposed to check the buyers profile to see if they’ve bought any bags or items recently. They will have a big N with a red mark next to their name if they are banned. Higher ups are also trying to find a way to connect their systems so that they can check if the resellers/personal shoppers are also purchasing from department stores and international stores. It’s a huge issue and I know it’s causing a lot of stress for the SA’s because everything is being sold to the resellers/personal shoppers. My SA said that they are also extremely rude and pushy when trying to buy the bags. The limit is 12 bags per year and 12 slg per year. Obviously if you spend millions or VVVVIP, you get special treatment and the limit won’t apply.
Glad to know that the SAs are at least aware of this and I hope they do something about it. I didn’t know about the limit. That’s good. I hope they are able to track them down but I won’t be surprised if they have other employees and buying at many many stores to bypass that limit.

This is exactly it.
The SAs work with the personal shopper/resellers in order for the SA to get the most out of their Commission for the week or month.
They might call it “Clientele” but this sort of “Clientele” is completely a ripoff for not only the customers but also the rest of their fellow employees that work there with the SA that’s basically messing up the whole system to make it fair for everyone.
If by any chance you spot the SA’s personal shopper page like their instagram or whatever then you can advice their store manager and/or report it to the customer service number as-well, maybe that might help.

I’m so glad you posted this! I’ve been shopping at Chanel for years now and in the past my SA will send me some of the stuff coming in and see if I want to reserve. Now they no longer doing that cause there’s so much demand that their store waits for people to send them pics of what they want to reserve. I don’t have the time or energy to be stalking what’s upcoming months in advance to get on a list. So by the time I inquire about it (which is still early and before the bags are released), the list is closed. For instance this has happened to me for the houndstooth mini last year and the gold mini from 21P and I just texted to add on the list for the black caviar rectangular mini with handle that’s coming out for 21S and he said list was closed after 2 days! I missed it by a day! He said he was flooded with texts about that bag awhile ago. I feel like this has got to be resellers cause I’ve been shopping with the same SA for 7 years and it never used to be like this.

I definitely think the the third party selling has picked up dramatically in recent months. I only purchase direct through boutiques/dept stores and would never pay a preimium anyway. If it continues to be this exhausting for regular customers than I may just lose interest over time...if it's not meant to be mine than so be it!

How do you do this?
Take screenshots if you can of posts, dms and their profile. Even better if you know their real name. Then just tell the FA, SA, manager, etc. and offer to share the screenshots. Also if you can match their photos (which are often not theirs but photos sent to them by an SA) to the SA who sent them, you can turn them in to that specific SA, which may or may not do any good, depending upon if that SA knew they were a reseller. Getting a manager involved is always a good idea.

I have spoken to a SA who told me they don’t get minis in that store. Months later, she told me her largest clients are resellers and she makes most of her commissions from resellers. Anytime I have asked for anything, I’m told “she’ll keep her eye out for me.” Yet, I never get a call.
Do you mind sharing who this SA is and what location? I’d like to make sure I steer clear of her. If you don’t want to post, please pm me.

This is so horrible. 10 years ago it wasn't as hard to get unicorn bags but it's definitely harder now. Just read about a gang who did this with hermes and made millions by doing this.

I recently found out that Chanel has a page dedicated to counterfeit items and how they are warning customers about these sellers. There is an email address at the bottom where we can email Chanel to let them know if we spot fakes. I think we should all email this inbox to report resellers. Screenshots of Instagram accounts (and backup accounts) as well as the serial codes of bags bought from resellers. I’m not talking about sellers that sell bags that are vintage or are over a year old, but bags that are recently released and have a hard time being located.

Islandrunrmom also mentioned on her Instagram story that Chanel is working to connect their systems across boutiques and department stores to see a buyers entire purchase history. I hope this happens soon.

We shouldn’t have to compete with resellers/personal shoppers who take up more than one spot on a national waitlist for every single hot item that comes out on the runway. So infuriating. I understand that personal shoppers can help source items that weren’t released in your own country. The problem is that personal shoppers are hogging the reserve spots before they even get customers which makes it harder for those who want to pay retail/no fee to get it the traditional way. I don’t want to be forced to have to pay a fee for an item just because the shoppers got there first. If they want to do sourcing for a client then they should get in line with the caveat that they conform to the purchase limits at Chanel per client profile. So no multiples of the same 21p caramel medium flap purchased at different locations (boutique + department store). My understanding is that they work with resellers as well (though I still don’t understand how that’s any different than being a personal shopper?)

I just came here to post this. I commented asking how they had three as they are sold out everywhere. Timeless often has good stock, but the prices especially in USD are straight up offensive!
And they have a M/L in 21p brown.
I wasn’t a fan, but I know how many people wanted that color and couldn’t get it because of resellers. It’s bonkers
