Many people seem to be confused as to what pics are needed to authenticate Louis Vuitton. So I decids to make this thread.
Besides seeing the bag form all sides - including the bottom and interior - pictures are needed of the following areas of the bag.
These pics need to be crystal clear, close up and straight on. Being too far away or at an angle can skew the look of the heatstamp and make a fake look real or vice versa.
You can get a better close up by using the macro setting on your digital camera (little flower
) and taking the picture in bright light - without flash.
(Almost all bags will have a Heatstamp and Datecode, the rest of these differ depending on the particular style)

Required pics:
LV HEATSTAMP (Louis Vuitton,Paris, made in...)
If LV is made in USA, will need picture of CLOTH TAG ( for new items from 2012)
DATECODE
ZIPPERPULL
RIVETS
GROMMETS
PUSH LOCK / CLASP
SCREWS BEHIND PUSHLOCK / CLASP
SNAP / BUTTON
FEET
CLOCHETTE
INVENTEUR PLATE
LV ON EPI
MARKING ON DAMIER
DUSTBAG,TAGS,BOOKLET
-----------------------------------------------------
Here are examples of the what each of the above are:

HEATSTAMP - this is the place on the bag where something has been heatstamped into the leather. When authenticating LV the heatstamp means the place where it says “LOUIS VUITTON made in…”
GOOD example
Bad examples
DATECODE: Usually 2 letters followed by 4 numbers - see here for more info on date codes.
These are difficult to photograph and even sometimes difficult to find. But this picture is very important so encourage sellers to try different angles etc, to get this pic. And of course it is easier to get a good pic with the macro setting.
ZIPPERPULL - Again, it’s very important that this is close up and straight on.
