Something really funny happened today.
So 2 days ago I watched a designer handbag collection video on youtube. There was this lady showing off her designer handbags collection and keep talking about how some bags are hard to get in the store and how you should save up money to buy luxury bags. I noticed most of her bags look so fake, so I commented on her channel and asked if all her bags are replicas, because they don’t look real to me!

The lady replied to my comment: “I’m curious why you say they don’t look real! I mean, honestly, I’m wondering what you saw that made you think they were replicas?” -> basicly she didn’t want to admit that all her bags are replicas and wonder how I could noticed that. She thought she could fool everyone!

I just saw her reply today and when I wanted to check out the video again, this showed up! LMAO!!! I guess I still have good eyes to spot the replicas!!

I don't see the point of buying/carrying fake bags.. you either can afford the real deal and buy it or you can't afford it so just buy some cheap brand handbag. There is nothing wrong with not being able to afford a 3k handbag and carrying non designer items.. but Idk how anyone can be comfortable wearing a fake.

I know there is people who say "Of course I can afford it but I don't want to, luxury items are not my priority" but I doubt those people would buy fakes because they obviously say luxury is not a priority for them so I doubt they'd ever want to look like they wear luxury then. It makes no sense to me.

Exactly. Also the cheap fakes really do look horrible like anyone could see that they are fake and the quality is completely off while the really great fakes that look almost real come with a high price tag so I don't see the point.. Before I spend like $200 or something on a good fake, I might as well just buy a high quality leather bag from contemporary designers

Exactly!! And that’s what I did when I couldn’t see myself owning a luxury designer bag so I started slow with Kate spade etc! And when you realise the quality you come to appreciate it much more and will be more willing to fork out the money. Some of the super fakes are like 500 or 600 and it’s so crazy anyone would fork that amount but I wonder how they will wear with time

I think I found a counterfeit seller on Mercari. Lots of “brand new items at a discount.” Something smells fishy. Can anyone confirm my suspicions? If I am right, how do I go about reporting a bad seller on Mercari? Looks like many items just went up a few minutes ago...definitely seems to scream replicas to me...they have made 410 sales so far...lots of MK and Kate Spades...

Omg! Yea they do have a lot of different colours and price is a bit too good to be true. But I don’t know enough about them to be able to tell. Maybe post in the MK forum?

Mercari probably won't take them down but it's worth a shot. As far as why people wear fakes, I guess ultimately to "flex" and gain the social capital that comes from having luxury goods. I love bags because of their designs but a lot of people aren't like that.

Hello everyone, I stumbled across a video on YouTube that was unboxing fake handbags didn't realise that was even a thing. Turns out there's lots of them lol. It's just so disheartening (do I sound snobbish when I say that?) but truly it is to me and more so worrying because these bags are probably only the cheap replicas and yes maybe in real life they look fake but on video they often look so convincing that I start doubting my bags lol. Can't imagine what a super fake would look like. I bought most of mine preloved and have done my due deligence (Im hoping so) getting them authenticated so that I don't get caught out but still makes me wonder though. Some of these bags even come with like fake receipts mainly from Hong Kong with the boutique ones and credit card ones! Like why would they even need to do that? Just makes me wonder if some people would try to sell these and pass off as real ones! This lady from the video I stumbled upon has so many of them and I remember her because she made a fake vs real video ages ago and now she's buying loads of fake ones saying she's doing it as a fun thing? I don't understand what's fun about carrying fake bags other than trying to pass them off as real really. I cringe every time they unbox one. Is it just me??? Though I am tempted now to order one just to see how 'good' it is and if I can tell but then I won't have any use of it after so didn't want to even spend that money lol. Sorry, end of rant lol

I’d prefer to get an inspired by purse like

Nah there are dupes and then there are replicas. I am not against dupes because they don’t pretend to be the real thing but there are several that parade their replicas and don’t share the seller because they know it’s not legal. And they call it ‘my Chanel classic flap bag’ and it comes with full logo box dust bag and authenticity card with Chanel stamping and everything. It’s actually really common on YouTube if you see one you’ll see so many. I think that is completely unnecessary the lengths these fakes go to. Also some people purchase these to resell on like Facebook to dupe some undiscerning buyer. I’ve seen it too on marketplace

You'd actually be surprised by how many people post videos of bag reviews, while explicitly stating they are replicas and how you can get one too. There's also an entire group on reddit dedicated for replicas. I remember seeing a thread on how to take a fake lv and its overly glossy canvas and I think lightly sand it to make it less glossy and more similar to the real thing. My jaw dropped at the cleverness and ridiculousness. If you're going through that much effort, just save for the real thing. We don't need every "it" item out there anyway.
