Repetto - are they worth it?

I buy them only when they're on sale. They're very simple, light and comfortable, and don't have that horrid elastic scrunched up in the back. However, depending on your taste, the leather is more thin so is a bit too "flimsy" for me. I like a pair of flats with more structure kwim?!

yes. I agree with the flimsy leather thing.

I owned 1 pair (before they were stolen) and found them cute, simple and elegant (casual yet sophistocated).

I also agree with others that there isn't much support with the shoes. After around 4 - 5 hrs I'm in some pain as opposed to other flats I've owned.

I love repetto. Don't wear ballet flats but their zizi oxford is so comfortable. There's something about the angle of the arch that really works for my feet. Due to the thin soles they do get sore if you're doing a lot of walking on hard ground but if youre not I'd recommend them.

I love Repetto too! I don't wear the ballet flats (I don't do well with flats in general) but have 3 pairs of the Norma wedge and they are super comfortable! I like that the bottom of the shoe is a bit more substantial, though the front edge does begin to show some wear after several uses.
I have these in the plain black leather, turquoise blue suede, and red/orange suede. I want them in every color! I wish they weren't so hard to find.

I have both Repetto and French Sole ballet flats. I find them both to be of equal comfort. They both fit and hug my feet extremely well (so no blisters/chafing etc) and are very light, but they also have very thin soles, so it'd be a good idea to get them soled if you decide to buy a pair. Also, they have zero lift/arch support, which is to be expected from a completely flat shoe.

I really like the shape of Repettos/French Soles, because they look very much like the Capezios I used to wear to ballet classes, so they represent the ideal "real" ballet shoe shape to me (more so than Lanvin/Miu Miu/Ferragamo, which have longer, wider or more curved toe-boxes).

I resoled my Repetto at a good cobbler before I wore them, and they left the centre portion untouched because it has the label heat-printed on it. The unprotected leather sole portion has since been smoothed out and blackened from daily use and rainy weather, but the shoe still looks brand new on the protected parts and the top area.

The bottom sole is a little thin, but all my flats usually are thin. The top leather that covers the foot is thin, but I have no problems with it and like that it is very light. I have started using removable insoles that make me feel like I'm walking on clouds, but the Repettos have never given me much problems from the get-go.

I got them from France when I was there last year, never regretted it and would love to get a few more pairs!

I found out this happened to my Jackson loafers today. What a bummer... I've had these for what, less than a month? I definitely have not walked around anywhere in these. I mainly wear them to work for the days I don't want to wear heels.

I mean I know I can go get them repaired but this is not what I was expecting.

They're handmade (according to the SA at Selfridges), so I guess it can be a bit of a hit and miss sometimes. I have a pair of boots where it seems to sag behind the heel, but equally I have a pair of taupe bb kitten heel pumps (style is called Gisele) that I've had for years and resoled a couple of times which is still going strong (I wear it almost every other day in the summer). I've just repurchased a new one at the sale today :)

Sorry to hear about your loafers! Do you happen to own ballet flats, too? I'm eyeing a pair of Jacksons, and just wondering about size compared to the flats I already own.

Aww sorry, I don't own any Repetto flats. After my bad experience with the loafers I didn't opt to chase after a pair of flats. I would say go TTS or 1/2 size up for the loafers if you like a roomier fit. But then again this is on the smaller sizes, can't say for the bigger sizes. My pair is a 35.

Thanks for the advice! I snagged a pair for a steal & sized up - fingers crossed that they fit!

And so sad about your loafers - did you get them repaired?

This happened to the front of my Repettos as well! It happened maybe a little over a year ago and I was so disappointed because I didn't have them for even a year and I hadnt worn them a lot. I got them fixed and the guy did tell me they were handmade and that you don't find shoes like that anymore.

Anyway, I still love my Repetto and got my red patent pair at the Repetto store on Rue de la Paix when I was there in 2009. I get many compliments on them, maybe because they are red patent and stand out. But Although simple, I love the way they look on! The shape is better than most other flats (I have revas and like these much more). They are comfortable to me but not for super long periods. The sales guy at the store had me get a 38. I am normally a 6-6.5! 6.5 is my "safe" size. I heard patent runs smaller than just the regular leather. If I got the regular kid leather, I would have been a 37.5, but otherwise 38 fits perfectly (with a little extra room to spare).

When I got them, I paid 150 euros.
