Repetto - are they worth it?

These shoes are not really worth it in my opinion. I had one pair and I wore it one day and it started raining. They turned my feet black. This never happened with any other shoes I had. Also, the heel started peeling. The heel sort of looked like it was made of wood, but it's sort of like a heavy sticker on the outside that peeled away from the heel.

You do need to go half a size up in them.

I swear by Repetto, have been wearing them for years and mostly nothing else in the summer because they are so comfortable but not sloppy. Right now, I have silver, gold, pewter, red, beige suede, patent blue and patent black flats. Plus a pair of MaryJanes in bronze.

Yes, you might want to protect their sole early on but it's true for most designer shoes. Also, metallics start looking "distressed" very soon but then it looks better and worn in. I've noticed that the patent leather can run its color if you wear it for most of the day and your feet (sorry!) sweat in it.

I live in flats, and have TB Revas/Lanvin/Repetto/LV/Miu Miu, you name it! I found that Repettos are very comfortable but the soles are very thin. The nice thing about the Lanvin are that they have a much thicker sole and that slight heel. TB probably has the most padding, and the Miu Miu/LV are super cute, but also thin soled. I wear mine all day and travel in them, but I have to admit, my feet get sore at the end of a long day on vacation. If I had to pick the ones I'd most prefer to travel in, it'd be the Lanvin. The others are great for normal daily wear though.

^^I love the Lanvin ballet flats, but at $500.00 that's just a little much for me to spend now. Do they ever go on sale or sell for less?

I actually saw both of them at Barneys, in NYC in June. If you wait until the end of June or into July they take a second markdown and that's when they were $189 and $229. I ordered the satin ones from Barneys in Arizona but when I got there the shoe was too small. Make sure you try Lanvins on first. I found that I have to go up one size, so instead of my regular 7 , I had to go up to an 8. Each style seems to have a different fit, which is annoying especially if you are paying full price for them( never will) and if you want to order them online.

I don't own a repetto although attempted during the sale to get one.

I think bergdorf goodman or saks still has 1-2 pairs in the $ 90 range.

Anyways, i agree with waiting for LANVIN and MIU MIU to go on sale.

Lanvin seems more everyday flats while MIU MIU is more jewelled and dressy.

Love them both and totally worth it as they are totally comfortable.

I got my miu mius from Saks and bergdorf sales while lanvin mostly from barneys sale . All were online purchases.
Good luck!!!

Well I guess I will find out. I just ordered a pair of the Repetto Michael loafers from gravitypope.com. My friend owns 5 pairs and she bought 4 pairs in Paris a few weeks ago and she loves them.
Does anyone have a pair of the Michael loafers?

I found my repettos ran about a half size small. I love them so much. I have black suede camilles (bloomingdales), black suede/anthracite demeters (the now-defunct twenty two shoes in Rockridge), pink glitter BBs ($10 crossroads trading find!), and black suede Esmeralda tie pumps (a store whose name I forgot). I like them because they're the most comfortable flats I've worn straight from the box. They're minimal and stylish. I used to do ballet for a very long time and they remind me a lot of my ballet slippers since repetto also creates ballet shoes.

I ordered mine a full size larger. I had tried on the ballet flats on the weekend and the 7.5 still felt snug so I thought since these are loafers which are often narrow I'd have a better fit with the size 8.

I just bought my first pair of Repetto shoes. I wear a 7.5/8 normally and trusted the salesperson when she told me that the 38.5 Michael loafers in patent leather would stretch half a size. She said that it's better to go snug and have them stretch out than to buy them to fit. I have my doubts, the first day with them was a bit tough. Can anyone else offer advice if this is the way to go. I'm seriously considering buying another pair half a size up.

I buy them only when they're on sale. They're very simple, light and comfortable, and don't have that horrid elastic scrunched up in the back. However, depending on your taste, the leather is more thin so is a bit too "flimsy" for me. I like a pair of flats with more structure kwim? So yeah, they're cute and is a staple, but there are other flats out there that may suit your personal taste more. Good luck!

I just received my Michael loafers today and they're great! Though I've got to get them resoled right away, that sole seems really thin!

I just got my Michael loafers today! I got them in a 36, probably should have gone up to 36.5 but that size was not available. For reference I range from size 5 to 6 in flats... but they fit lengthwise, just a little tight width-wise but I figured they would stretch so I'm keeping them for sure! These are gorgeous!!

Should I get these resoled right away or get some wear out of them before resoling? What's the consensus?
