Regrets, I've had a few...

I have two: one is to ever have bought a Dooney. It won't sell, so I am about to donate it to goodwill. The otheri s to buy the first bag I bought from Etsy, from the Leather store. It was poorly made, and her attitude after it fell apart was ...not acceptable.

No matter how much I want to love a satchel or a top handle bag, and I was so close to picking up the LV speedy...I just know that 1. I won't wear a non leather bag, and 2. that I need the crossbody option. No matter what. I am always walking around, I live in NYC where people are always bumping you and I have been mugged twice. I started wearing crossbody and its just so much more comfortable that I can't go back. Thats why the convert style I love, when I want a shoulder bag I can wear it, but if I get too tired...crossbody.

Ive bought two or three handle bags, to only give them to my mom.

I regret buying a lot of bags that I felt I HAD TO HAVE. Usually they are HG or OH, SO PRETTY. Then, I never use them... they tend to be REALLY HIGH PRICE bags, too.

I regret buying the LV Speedy 25 instead of the 30. It was 5 years ago and at the time, the 25 was a good size for me. Now I tend to carry more stuff with me and it just isn't large enough. Oh well, I still love it, I just have to scale back when I carry it.

1.) Buying duplicates of a couple of my bags.
2.) Giving away two of my purses to my mother's SO as I never have seen her wear either of them apart from that one day. I'd very much rather just keep them for myself.
3.) Merely buying a couple of bags because of the raved quality of their leather. It turns out if they don't look pretty, I'm not going to be happy with them no matter how pretty they feel.

I regret not being a bit more discriminating at times in the past when buying a bag. I also regret getting caught up in some TPF hype at times about certain bags, only to find out that they don't really work for me. And I will never again choose beautiful over comfortable. On the plus side, I'm thrilled with what I have now and am hoping I've gained more discipline. I'm a less is more person and much happier that way!

+1!

I used to buy bags that I thought I would use but in reality, they just sat in my closet. I feel a little sad about how much money I spent on those bags and resold all of them for less. :(

Now I'm trying to be more mindful about my bag purchases and only buying bags that will fit in my lifestyle and fit MY style. I know that I will not use big, heavy bags. Right now cross bodies seem to be my thing so I will use and abuse them! ;)

I mostly regret buying bags just because I got good deals on them. Now, I'm much more careful when it comes to purchasing new bags. If I can't see myself carrying it a few years down the road, I won't buy it. I also bring my mom with me when I go shopping so I can get her opinion because she's realistic.

1. Buying duplicates. By the time the first bag wears out, I'm usually tired of the style or it's no longer practical for me.

2. Buying heavy bags. Much as I love the durability of calfskin, in a larger bag it's like carrying around half of a cow.

3. Buying bags that suit a lifestyle I *wish* I had, not the lifestyle I actually do have. I love the Chanel quilted lambskin flap bag, but I live the life of a hippie, not a Lady Who Lunches.

Same here. My bag has to have a crossbody. All the money I put in all my other bags seem like a big waste cuz I'll probably never use them again.

My regret is not buying a purse I loved when it was cheaper. Now it's exorbitant and I can't find a good reason to cough up the money to buy it. At the end of the day, it's still just a purse to carry stuff in and a nice accessory to what I wear.

Regret getting rid of a framed, black crocodile handbag that was beautiful and large but missing the handheld straps. This was before I discovered leather repair shops online. A big regret because not only did I love the classic shape, I am sure the crocodile skin was worth $$$.
