Regrets, I've had a few...

Bags I regret not getting: a Marc Jacobs satchel that I thought I could get on sale a couple years ago, but I wasn't vigilant enough.

Bags I regret purchasing: Regret all my LVs. Ended up selling them all. Also some Chanel bags that I never use but I'm too scared to sell.

I regret no buying a Modalu London bag in gray, when I was travelling. It was authentic and the price was really good.
I decided to "walk a thaught" on it, when I came back to the shop - some one else was buying it!
New rule: Next time - just buy it!

I mostly regret buying so many cheap, junky bags. Now I'm much more discerning.
^ Same. I also regret not buying a beautiful little Isabella Fiore satchel when I was in high school that I loved - I think about it now and can't find it anywhere. I probably wouldn't even like it if I saw it at this point. If I didn't buy any of those crappy bags, I could have had a nice classic Chanel wallet or two that would never be out of style!

I most regret buying a lot of cheap bags just because I thought they were cute at that moment. with all that I threw out I probably could have funded a Chanel. the bag I most regret buying was when I jumped on that Marco tagliaferri band wagon. as soon as I got it I regretted it. it reminded me too much of a birkin and most times I was embarrassed to use it because it felt like a fake to me. I ended up selling it for way below what I paid for it. oh well lesson learned.

the bag I most regret getting rid of was my purple LV impanema to fund buying the dumb Marco tagliaferri bag. lol. especially since my mom gave that bag to me and I got next to nothing for it because I sold it to a consignment store.

I'm still not very careful these days about spending money on useless bags but DH helps me out by reminding me or not letting me sell my bags just because I want to buy something else.

oh and I most regret not buying a Chloe Ethel that I found on eBay for like $475. I passes it on to my friend and no every time she brings it out I feel a longing in my chest. haha.

Buying cheapie bags that are "like" my dream bag....only b/c I HAVE to have it at that moment..

Just save your money and splurge for the one you want....i waste too much money on cheapies

I also have a vintage Chanel tote that I can't bear to sell.....the chain strap just does not work with me.

I regret not getting a lilac Chanel mini flap when I was on a trip to New York. I still kick myself all the time for that.
I don't really regret any of my bag purchases. Some bags I don't use anymore, but I was very happy with them at one time.

I have many regrets...

I regret so many of my less expensive bags that I thought would make me very happy. About ten bags and gave them all to my sister.

I regret getting the Chanel black on black large Cambon tote. Only wore it a few times years ago and now it's collecting dust.

I regret so many of my LV's.. Mono Trouville, DA Eva (pretty but I love my DE more), DE Neverfull MM, Epi Sarah, Epi cosmetic case, Vernis cosmetic case, Mini Pochette, and owning two Vernis cles as I only use one.

who knows for sure tho, next year my regrets might be different. our tastes and lifestyle changes. do you think that has anything to do with our wants now and our wants then?

for example about 15 years ago I was really really into LV epi bags because they were more structured and I worked in an office where I had to look more polished and put together but now days I stay at home with baby and work at home so my style is much more casual hence my bags have gotten slouchier and less structures.

I regret buying a Kate spade and a coach that I "settled" on and are now collecting dust since the strap doesn't work for me.

I regret not buying Chanel bag and Loubatin heels when I was in Paris where I could have saved some money!

I regret passing up on a Cobalt Celine Luggage in Micro in HK for around $1800... At the time, I thought it was too expensive and then I came back and searched high and low... Didn't commit to anything... And then Celine did a price increase... and then the following year, purchased a tri-colour for $2750! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH lol

I regret purchasing many LV bags which I turned around and sold right after.

I regret buying a Chloe Heloise - way too heavy, and I settled for patent leather because it was a good price, even though I much preferred the matte leather. Wound up selling that soon after I bought it for a loss.

My biggest regret is trashing a vintage '60s Bonnie Cashin coach purse - it's a small light caramel leather one with the turnlock closure on top - one of the metal loops holding the strap in place broke off when I tried to bend it a bit to tighten, and a ball point pen leaked all over the front, staining the leather....

I really need to be more careful with my stuff.

Reviving an old thread because I recently downsized my collection and thought about the bags I regretted buying...

I was in love with the Givenchy Pandora for months, and finally bought a large one in the sale. Unfortunately it was HUGE - much too large to be practical for me. What was I thinking?

Another regret was buying a petticoat Alexa (also in the sale - do you see a pattern?) which I love the look of but am too scared to carry in case I dirty her.

Must be more careful to buy bags I will love to USE in the future!

Would love to hear your bag regrets too :)

I have bought and sold so many bags. Most I don't regret selling, but I regret the pain of the low price I got for them. Some I do regret selling as I often sell (and buy lol) in haste. I have been able to buy a replacement for one of the Chanels I sold, at an increased price. My lesson? Buy fewer bags; have a curated collection of bags you use, or collectible bags you just have to own (the last is not really smart, but we all have our weaknesses, no?).

I've been collecting premium designer bags for only a couple of years. I'm not exactly a minimalist at heart, so I need to be careful not to get so many bags that I don't use them all enough. I'm already heading down that road, so I regret not having been choosier early on. There are a couple of bags I'm not ready to part with but probably wouldn't buy if I saw them in stores today.

However, I also regret not having started with premium designers earlier. I've wasted a lot of money over the years on replacing and repairing cheap bags.
