Vegans... Targeting new group of customers.

I've never met a vegan that would carry or wear anything PU. They seem to stick to cotton and hemp bags. The "vegan leather" thing is ridiculous; vegans know good and darn well PU isn't biodegradable, and vegans, for the most part, are very environmentally conscious. It seems to me the targeted new group of customers is just plain ol' lower price point customers.

Trust me there are plenty of vegans who is using plastic purses aaaaaaand plastic shoes..... Well, you know PU /PVC is no good and I know too, not necessarily other people. For them it is idealism! For example, here is the thread:

Ooh. Oh my. Never mind, then. PT Barnum was right. Well, my brother, my BFF's son and dil, and all the one's I've met in Seattle and now in a small population New England state avoid PU like the plague. Bad TPF vegans! Shame on them!

Well, all this "new" line is an act of desperation. I just assumed that vegans might buy it and lower price buyers who don't care about the material just the design. Because, who else is going to? It is already on sale in the store.. Is it a bottom yet? Or what is next? A line for a goodwill?

I think they got the title of the article backwards. If RK is still carrying the same YUUUUUGE mortgages as he was when the handbag line collapsed, it should be "CAN TIFFANY RESCUE REED KRAKOFF?"
I think it's both.

That said, I'm excited to see it as I've always loved his designs (as long as he sticks to designs and not business). I'm approaching it with skepticism as with any new designer/house combo, but those always yield some of the best (and worst) designs. Tiffany seems to be going for more aggressive stylings with the line released with the Lady Gaga partnership. From my recollection of his jewelry pieces, I think it'll be interesting to see.

I was honestly hoping he'd wind up at Banana Republic before the Kohl's line was announced. They were doing the prairie, patterned, ruffled, tassled, fringed, asymmetrical, Americana thing which, while it has its place, is not why I go to BR. Fortunately, they've gone back to their 90s/00s standards.

This is definitely an interesting move. Reed Krakoff took Coach to crazy heights during his tenure. He understands what motivates people to buy and is a design fanatic. As a Chief Artistic Officer I think he has a good shot at success--as long as they keep him focused on the brand aspects.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread...

I was shocked to see these bags at Burlington. They had like 8-9 different styles. 24.99$ which I thought was really high honestly for them...
