I have the Gucci soho in red and I love the size and shade, but I agree it's a causal bag, not super dressy. Have you looked at the the Ferragamo Vara bag? I believe that comes in a similar shade of red, different sizes, leather materials, and a cute little bow which makes it a bit more dressy.

Just as an FYI. Many bags can be brought back to almost new condition by sending them to a spa like Leather Surgeons or Leather Pros. (I like both). If you see something you like, send the photos to both places to see if that particular bag can be brought back to life and what the cost to do so may be.
I know you are looking for smaller red bags so I want to share mine which I love. Its the Trussardi mini Lovey in red pebbled leather and red hardware. The color is more true in the 2nd photo.

That trussardi is so unique! I love your red Chanel! Unfortunately, I had to send dark red mini back, the quality is not there any more. I’m leaning towards Dior now.

And, I feel the same way about Chanel. All my Chanels, other than this one, are 5+ years old. I'm not motivated to buy new ones.
In contrast, the Diors that I've purchased (the most recent being a brand new Diorama last summer) have outstanding quality.
I love my red Prada. I got it last year and it’s a real work horse. It schlumps a bit when it’s not stuffed. I tried a caddy inside but that made it too bulky.
I wish I discovered Chanel earlier. It’s great to hear that Dior’s quality is better. Gucci got into a way, I’ve been thinking about Dionysus for some time, but there’s something special about Dior. Which color did you get?
