Does anyone have an opinion to which is the best between gelish, shellac and red carpet? I like gelish a little better than shellac but I still order the shellac (CND). I saw red carpet for $9.99 at duane reade i opened to see the density of the polish and wasn't a fan. But has anyone used red carpet, if so how was it?

RCM is owned by the same company as Gelish and ACG. The colors RCM has are all dupes of gelish and/or ACG colors. You can check out the dupes spreadsheet in my signature to find some of the known dupes.

This thread is 53 pages of peoples experiences and opinions of the product. I agree with a few others and feel it is identical to gelish. There is also a shellac thread, you'll find lot of opinions of shellac there. I like a few shellac colors. It doesn't wear as well for me personally as the other brands do. The bottles are smaller and more expensive also, so value-wise it's not the best bang for the buck. It does appear to be the most hypoallergenic though - a few here who developed allergies are still able to use shellac.

With all the coupons and the rewards, RMC at Ulta can be much less expensive. Everyone that I have know to use RMC says it is exactly like Gelish except the brushes are frequently bad. You need to open the bottles and inspect the brushes before you buy RMC.

I agree! Ulta has a 3.50 off $10 coupon right now, and I read somewhere you can use 2 coupons in separate transactions, so that makes two polishes $6.50 each. Ulta has a lot of deals pretty often.

Do check out the brush real quick, I have seen some wonky ones. I DO try to do it away from the window! LOL. They are supposed to be changing their brushes to a shorter, fatter one, and hopefully that will be better for application.

I think Gelish and RCM are exactly the same. I also think the brushes get messed up from everybody opening them to inspect. That's the conundrum. My Ulta displays them near the front by the windows and I think it's a bad idea to put them there when people open them up to look at the color.

I also wouldn't buy one without opening it up to see the brush and the color but I step around the corner and out of the sunlight and try to be quick about it.

I agree! I have had this same thought myself. Never could figure out why on earth they put it right next to a gigantic window! I too step around the corner to give the color/brush a quick peek if I am going to buy one.

thanks for the heads up. where does one obtain these coupons your talking about?

They wear and apply indentically for me, and both brands are the bulk of my collection.

I actually prefer the mini bottles, and even though I personally have never had a problem iwtha brush, they say with the next round of colors soon to be released they have changed their brush. Several dollars cheaper than a mini Gelish with a Sally Beauty card, and with coupons like Ann said, even cheaper than that. They don't however, have as many colors, but if they do have the color I want, I see no reason to spend up to $5 more for a Gelish.
why do you prefer the gelish minis they're more expensive from sallys than the bigger ones off amazon.

Right at the bottom of Ulta.com homepage.

They take up less space. For those of us with large collections space is an issue. and the vast majority of us will never use up a whole mini probably, let alone a whole full size bottle. If you have coupons and stuff, the mini's are a great deal, although still more expensive probably if you are trying to compare dollars per ounce or something.

Sally's often has coupons too, and if you are a beauty club member then you get a cheaper price, plus if you spend $25 in a month, then the next month you get a 15% off coupon you can use the entire next month.

I think she meant the RCM minis, but I could b wrong!! Yeah one would have to be crazy to pay the Gelish mini prices at Sallys. I only get em on amazon myself!

I've gotten all my gelish minis when they were on sale and/or with coupons.

Both Ulta and Sally's have coupons (at least some of the time) on their website. Also if you read nail blogs you will see coupons mentioned. A month or so ago I was directed to a website for a Sally's coupon that was $10 off $20 which is 50% off. You can print as many as you like so I used it to buy the Finger Paints Flakie Polishes--I got all 5 for $16.00 which included the 7% tax. Also you get reduced prices with the Sally's card and when you purchase $25 in a month they send you a 15% off coupon. I get Ulta coupons in their ad insert in my paper frequently--usually 20% off and again they have some kind of club. I don't get there often so don't really know how it works but I believe you get "points" for $$ purchased and when you have enough you get reduced prices or free stuff. Hopefully someone with better experience will explain it.

With the Sally's card you get beauty club pricing on everything just about, which is a few dollars cheaper usually. If you spend 25 in a month, the next month you get a 15% off coupon emailed to you. You also get other coupons, like I had the $10 off $20 for my birthday to use the whole month.

Sometimes, at least at my Sally's, if you just ask the cashier, they may let you use some coupons that they have on hand.

Ok ladies, one gal on Facebook on the RCM page got all 4 limited edition and her least fav is champagne night!! She said the silver reminds her of Gelish water field but its more dense and even prettier!

They have priced the polish at $9.99. How do you make up the 1 cent difference in order to use the coupon?

Sometimes they will still take the coupon for 9.99. I have purchased a cheap buffer other times or whatever cheap item u may find u need!! I usually get stuff at ulta a lot so I didn't run into this problem a lot but just have them manually take your coupon!! Beg them lol
