We had a family dinner tonight, only one daughter had already seen the snakeskin mani. She was too creeped out to touch it. The other two saw it when they got here, they thought it was pretty cool. My son even liked it! My DIL thought it was "very interesting". Everybody has different reactions. I like that, with the grey and black colors, it isn't obvious at first. You kinda have to have a closer look to realize what it is. It is holding up really well. Nothing more lifting up after that first bit that I had to glue down. The hardest thing is that I'm tempted to pick at it because there is a texture. But I've been making myself behave.

I found a pic I took of my attempt at a winter mani. The accent nail is done with rcm black stretch limo. The other nails, I'm not sure. I might have it written down somewhere and will let you know if I find it. They would be rcm or gelish as that is all I currently have. The design on the accent nail is my attept at making a blue and gold snowflake. I used the blue and gold stripe rite nail paints from Sally's. Also put a few pieces from a bigger type of glitter on there, kinda like putting on rhinestones. I'm not as precise as I would like to be, and my camera skills could use some improvement, but I'm just glad to finally be able to share some of these with the rest of you - thanks to a lot of help from a private tutoring lesson with a very good teacher via PMs. I could just not figure it out in my own. Here's the winter mani:

I am definately not a "blue" person and wouldn't ever see myself wearing blue nail polish. It's just not my color. However, I do love the color on everyone else:) I have a couple of blues since my 16 year old loves blue. (killed me to paint her bedroom blue..sigh) But Nana Sue, I have to say I totally love that mani. <3 I can so see myself doing that next winter :)

My gel manicures are only lasting a week tops without the polish starting to peel off. My nails themselves are pretty peely so I think that has something to do with it. Are there any recommendations for getting it to stay on longer? I know there are bonding products or something, wondering if these will make the condition of my nails poorer than they already are though

Peely nails will defnitely affect the performance of the manis. If you're careful about removal (no scraping) they should eventully grow out to be better and the healthier your nails are, the longer you rmanis will last.

Personally, I suggest having some patience and see if they'll improve on their own before you start introducing a bonder. Those bonders tend to make removal tough and you don't want more layers of your nail coming up with the removal ..... it might just make it worse.

Thanks. I know alot of you like using the color blue in your nails. I never thought I'd like it. But you've inspired me, and I loved that mani. Hated when it grew out. And it did feel very wintery to me. When I find my other pics, I will post them as well.

This is lovely.

There are lots of tips and tricks and detailed information in the Sticky Thread for Beginners. You will need to troubleshoot your problem. It is best to try one thing at a time until you find what works. If one thing helps but doesn't solve the problem, continue to do that fix and add other things that may help. Remember that SOGS work best on healthy nails. If you have lots of peeling you may need to find a product that solves that problem first. Good luck.

I like to go to the store so I can use my coupons. I try not to pay more than $8 for a bottle of RCM and I don't want to pay shipping. It's only a few miles away from my house so even at @$3.50/gal gas (Yikes!!) I save money over paying shipping. I never buy the minimum for free shipping. Spending "up" to get free shipping is a bad habit I've worked to break.

Yeah I know what you mean about that bad habit. :D

Well, four new colors available on the Ulta website - the gold, the silver, a red, and "It's a Champagne Night" whatever that may be.

Anybody been to a store in the last day or two?

The 24k gold one or another gold?

Just went to Ulta looking for the new colors and when I search for it none of the colors come up at all. Weird. Oh well, will have to worry about it tomorrow. Too tired lol

The gold they have listed is called "Award Winning" not sure if its the same as 24k Gold One or not. In the article it has a black bottle with gold lettering and this one is all gold so not sure...

I think the one they call "My Thank You Speech" looks like it could be similiar to Gelish Good Gossip, can't really tell since its just the bottle though

I was assuming that the 24k was the one in the black bottle that had real gold in it - that they just produced for the award shows and won't be released to consumers. And that this "Award Winning" is the mass market version of it they were talking about on FB. IDK for sure though. :shrugs:

I was thinking the same thing, that the red was probably Good Gossip. We'll have to wait til someone sees them in person.

I bet your right in the gold thing that's the way I was interpreting it too, wouldn't think one that had real gold in it would be $9.99 either lol
Was also thinking "its a champagne night" looks like your creations from your pigment and Aurora color mixture :)
