Today i decided to try OPI rnp base coat before beginning my SOG mani. I soaked off my 2nd vitagel strenghth mani today and it took forever. Yes, the color came off in big chunks, but the strength hardly budged after a very long soak. I hope the rnp base coat method will give me easier, quicker soak offs.

My vitagel mani always slide right off after about 10 minutes... it must have really stuck to your nails.
I has this problem with the gelish structure. Now that wouldn't budge even after the color was gone.
I have yet to try the rnp because the vitagel helps me w easy soak offs.

Have you tried OPI base coat? Since using it I get 2 week wear and 10 min or less removal!

Gelish is the only basecoat I have used. It is 2 years old now and most likely at the end of its life cycle plus the bottle is almost empty. I was going to try the shellac base but good to hear you like the OPI. Does it flake off easily? I hate scraping my nails, that is where the damage occurs, Appreciate your opinion and help :smile1:

I have used the following basecoats (with many different sog brands as my colour coats):

SENSATIONAIL (used with LED lamp)
Used without the primer. Flaked off easily, no scraping during soak off. Regularly experienced chipping and lifting though on some nails which I use alot.

RCM (used with LED lamp)
Used with and without RCM primer. Flaked off easily without primer during soak off (acetone or regular polish remover) but total PITA to get off if used with their primer. Wore okay but did experience occasional lifting and chipping on some nails.

Horrendous removal when cured with UV lamp. Never used again since then.

SHELLAC (used with UV lamp)
Used with and without Gelish Pro Bond on some tips. Polish crinkled during soak off (acetone, regular nail polish remover, OPI Expert Touch, RCM remover) had to push off nails with orange wood stick. Some basecoat stayed on my nails though which I had to rub off with cotton wool soaked with acetone.

OPI (used with UV l lamp)
Used with Gelish Pro Bond on some tips. Exactly the same removal process and outcome as with Shellac. Best wear of all basecoats tried so far.

Now using OPI basecoat with Orly Rubberized basecoat rnp underneath. Wow!!!! Amazingly thorough and quick soak offs with rnp under the gel basecoat. Great wear too with Gelish Pro Bond on the tips of all nails - no lifting or chipping.

I think removal and wear is somewhat linked to individual body chemistry along with nail prep, application and aftercare. Fir instance my mums nails ALWAYS chip, but she hot best wear from Shellac and OPI. OPI is harder to get off her nails. She also doesn't moisturise enough so I brought her hand cream an solar oil. My sister suffers from sheet peeling probably due to post pregnancy hormones. She gets great wear from OPI! Shellac is the worst on her for the polish 'pinging' off. She has no issues with removal. I get best wear from OPI removal could be better but they last well. Based on this, I'll try rnp base on my mum, but not on my sister.

Favourite (most effective so far) remover I is Shellac Nourishing remover. It worked really well for me on my soak off and boyfriend's mums also. I found it more effective and cheaper than Expert Touch.

Yes it does for me, removal is just like shellac was but I get a lot better wear. With Shellac I would only get 5-7 days, usually had 2 chips by 2-3 days.
