Rant: Giving the Bag Community a Bad Name

My english is not perfect so Sorry if I make some mistakes. I totally agree with you. When I buy a lv or another brand it is only because I love and use it everyday . Do not have instagram or Twitter.. i love my purses because I Just love them and use them everyday.

But I wanted to tell you that I was laughing in reading your comment. You seemed very angry . And I know that American People are more polite, peace or calm than French People lol so it is nice to see that you can be angry too . Hahahahah . Good thing.
Wish you a great evening :-)

Well OP is from Austria, so umm, no angry American here :w00t:

And I don't understand the OP's rant, the "bag community" is all about showing off purchases and collections. We can't really assume WHY people acquire these things, all we can do is look at the pics and enjoy. If this is annoying then don't look at the pictures or watch the videos :shrugs:

Hi!! I'm on Instagram and take photos of my bags and luxury items. I do not do it to "brag" but rather to share my love for fashion. It's actually a really amazing community (a lot of them on tpf). Some people may use it as a way to brag but I actually view it as a way to connect and make others happy. I'm sorry if this offends you but I don't think it's fair to group all of us into this category. I love using hashtags to see how bags, shoes, scarves, etc... Look on others. Its a fun community. I work hard for my money and am excited to share my purchases with other like minded people. It's very similar to tpf. Once again please don't refer to us all as "superficial humans" because if you took a deeper look you'd see that it's about more than "keeping up with the Jonses."

Omg yeees! I agree that the community on IG and other social media is WONDERFUL! I was rather talking about those who give the community a bad name by showing poor character to other human beings - nothing wrong with flaunting your beautiful bags in real as well as in virtual life!! ((:
I'm so so sorry that my post came across wrongly! I was referring to those who basically don't give a crap about the brand and it's heritage, the craftsmanship, etc. but instead, just buy it to own it for the sake of showing it off and then thinking they're better than everyone else (talking rudely to SAs, etc.)
So don't worry, I 100% respect and love it when people post their newest bags on IG and share the love

Haha true, I've never been to the U.S. actually :p

Again, to clarify: I absolutely LOVE it when people flaunt their bags on social media and on the streets! What my problem is when people ACT a certain way, i.e. when they're plain rude to other people and give random pedestrians on the streets dirty looks just for the heck of it.

My rant stemmed from a vlog I was watching of some girl (literally don't remember the user name) and she was carrying a beautiful, authentic Artsy and roamed the streets of LA with her friend and they were yelling things out on the streets like "YOU WISH YOU WERE ME, *****EEES! HAHAHAH" and just being obnoxious and then they walked up to random ladies in the supermarket, filming this with hidden camera, saying "Hello. Excuse me? I'm so sorry but I just noticed you were carrying a really ugly bag. And I just wanted to say I'm SO sorry for you that you'll never be able to afford a double CC" and then her friend added "Omg look at her! She probably doesn't even know what a CC is hhahahah"
And they literally filmed this behaviour with hidden vlogging cam
And even worse: People in the comments were like: "OMG HAHA I LOVE YOU GIRLS! That woman looked so confused hahahah MADE MY DAY" or "OMG I NEED TO BE YOUR FRIEND. YOU ALWAYS HAVE SO MUCH FUN. NO SHAME LOL!"

-.-

Thanks everyone for the insight on everyone's opinions!
I'm glad I'm not alone with my frustration :p

I just re-read my original post again and I totally see how I put too much emphasis on the bag community on IG, so I apologize for offending anyone! I love looking at modeling shots on IG myself!

Basically, I was most annoyed and upset about people filming/ vining their obnoxious behaviour and making a point to let everyone know that they think they're superior just cos of the things they can afford.

I myself want to make more YT vids about bag reviews, so I in no way wanted to trash talk people to film or take pics of their treasures - that would make me the biggest hypcrite :p

So as long as people live their lives happily, respectfully and peacefully, I see nothing wrong with sharing the love for LV & Co :coolio:

I gotcha....and no offense taken. These kinds of people ARE annoying; however sometimes with YouTube especially, you have to not take to seriously because it is strictly for entertainment... Like watching a TV show. Although it is never cool to be rude and put others down to lift yourself up. These people are unfortunately everywhere and it is not just limited to handbags. What can you do except hope that one day they get it back. As they say, Karma is a B%?€#.

Hi, I see what you're saying, that video sounds annoying. Some youtubers do anything for clicks and views, all we can do is stop watching and not support their channel.
Those videos are popular because people love hidden cams and stupid behavior.

Lots of dumb stuff on YouTube, I try not to watch that stuff and definitely don't waste any time reading the comments! At least there are many luxury channels that are nice and mellow, just stick with the positive stuff and keep it happy :)

I would watch your videos if you decide to make more, there's a thread on the forum to share video links, post there and I'll watch :D take care, don't let the dumb people annoy you :D

I love your advice about sticking to the positive stuff and keeping it happy :) that put a smile on my face :p

sure! I'll post my next bag-related vid there :D

Ew what a bunch of classless brats. I NEED to watch that video. I'll go get some popcorn. I love watching these basic betches acting all classless. So much fun judging them.

I'm serious. Please tell me the title of the video so I can search for it. I ran out of things to watch on Netflix

That is so tacky and shows a serious lack of class; I don't care if her Artsy is authentic or not since it won't do a damn thing to salvage her personality or maturity. This is a prime example of someone wearing a high-couture designer brand for all of the wrong reasons! And I'm also willing to make a bet that she will neglect and abuse that poor bag since she doesn't respect either herself, other people, and least of all the brand and its history.

Hello everyone. Ugh. Its midnight over here and before I go to bed I just wanna het these negative ramblings off my chest.
So I somehow stumbled upon youtube channels/ instagram accounts from people who collect hundreds of Louis, Chanels, Celines, etc. But they act snobbish, rude and disrespectful to non-lux lifestylers which is just so offensive!
I myself have loved LV since I was a little girl due to childhood memories. And I'm sure you fellow LoVers feel the same way. But these superficial humans who just buy a louis cos its expensive and will make a good new instagram pic really irritate me atm. Idk why!
Usually I'm all about "do you" and "live and let live" but rn i am just so appalled at how some people carry themselves and then even end up getting praised for their poor behaviour.
I really feel at.home in the bag community and it saddens me that such bad seeds are making me question my passion for handbags!
Ughh just wanned to get that out there. Now I can sleep in peace! Haha xxx

I am unsure what the problem is to be honest. If you don't like what someone has to say, don't watch them.

Grüss Dich Gott aus Wien, OP!

That´s the Internetz, distorting real life as usual to the nth factor: nice people look even better, nasty people look ghastly, funny people come across as hilarious, and passive-aggressive people come across like total unredeemable jerks. From your description of that vid, those women wanted to stir some haphazard fake drama at the expense of others (typical "hidden camera" stuff). Laughing AT people isn´t funny, though - laughing WITH people is, and they don´t seem to know the difference, or care...

It´s really easy in such cases... ignore the troll and don´t feed it ;)

I was looking for the video and it got deleted I think! Cos I remember I sent the link to a friend and that same link just redirects me to the youtube page with the :/ -face that says "this video is not available anymore"

but the uploader was called something with rhhcollecting or something. idk maybe it was just a random upload, sorry! xxx
