I finally tracked down a burnished vachetta Ricky. Been lusting for it since late summer when the catalog came. Funds and wants didn't line up until late spring. Anyway it came and is gorgeous, I love it even more than I thought I would. I will post a pic this week.

Congratulations!!!! Can't wait to see your photo!!

I have a question I hope you ladies can answer for me. I have always like RL's style for it's casual flair which suits my lifestyle, especially as I have gotten older. I have started examining the bags again & I find myself drawn to the Ricky. My question is about the "wings". I've see the bags on the RL website calling the bag the Ricky but some show wings while some do not. Are the bags with the wings the same bag as the ones pictured without them or are they a variation? Can the wings be inverted so they don't stick out? I seem to prefer the look of the bag without the wings. Can someone give me an explanation & advice on size & structure. I have not seen these bags IRL but since I prefer large structured bags, I think the medium would be the smallest size that would work for me. I may need to make a trip to the RL boutique to handle them personally to get a feel for them.

Hi cdtracing! I wear my Ricky with the 'wings' in, and sometimes with the 'wings' out. I have the soft Ricky in the size below the 40. It's soft yet keeps its shape. The lining is pure leather and the color contrasts to the outside. I think you should check them out at the boutique. It's a workhorse of a bag. Fantastic quality!

Thanks. That's information I need to know. I will definitely need to go to the boutique to gauge size & structure.

I've used my Ricky for work almost daily for nearly 2 years. At first I liked the shape better with the wings in, but for practical reasons I always use it like a tote with wings out, and now I prefer the more casual look. With the sides out, file folders and my laptop both fit comfortably inside. The bag has softened over time, but the leather still looks amazing and I've been extremely happy with the quality.

Forgive me if this has been posted before; I can't find a reference: which is more practical as a daily bag, 27 or 33? I'd prefer the use of a strap at times and something which can hold a lot, but not too much and not too heavy. Including a few baby items. Thanks!!
