If you can wait longer and are willing to deal with a US vendor:
SHOULD be eyeclean-confirm with vendor--and clarify YOUR definition of eyeclean with theirs:

Regarding the 1ct size: Does not look bad on your hand. In MM size, the difference is not SUPER significant side by side. Yes it would be nice to have a more spready stone (which is why you want a stone closer to 60% depth, the spread will be better for carat weight), for the weight. But for the budget, if you get a well cut stone between 1-1.5 cts, it will face up nice and bright edge-to-edge and look fantastic on your hand.

All of those US vendor stones: those are the actual diamond you'd be buying in those images. The real thing. Those inclusions are what they are, at 40x magnification. The warmth you see is partially related to the lightning environment. Most warmth in those J's is from the sideview and in real life is not as prominent. I showed you some "Blues" from Brian Gavin which have fluorescence which in most cases negates much of the warmth.

Combination of experience, research and education from the GIA.

Cool! I love how you seem to be the community expert... Plus I love how you share secrets like warmer color plus excellent cut will still give you a beautiful diamond at a savings etc!

:) I feel like there's a lot of useful info that should be shared. Not everyone loves or "needs" a high colored diamond. And not everyone can tell the difference. If it isn't vital, why pay for that when you can put the money into another characteristic that matters to you? I learned this bec it's so interesting to me. I don't work in the industry so it's just something I can share with others. No use to keep it all to myself!

Most Jewelers are less pleased with this wealth of info being brought into their stores though.

I am going to be very blunt here: you bought from someone who is not your friend. You did not buy this diamond "at cost." You bought this diamond at Retail. NEVER do business with "Friends." This person did you no favors, and will continue to do you no favors. This person is doing his job which is to make money off of you and this sale. He will continue to do his job, which is to continue not looking out for your best interests and what you want. He is likely going through what he has in stock, and not searching for what is actually on the market everywhere, which is why you've only been given three stones to choose from in the price range you have, and none of which is what you're asking for. It's because he's not doing what is best for you and this relationship, it's what's best for his bottom line. Get your money back NOW.
I agree with this completely... I don't understand why a "friend" would sell such an obvious flawed ring in your eyes... I would be panicking too about the party... But don't waste money settling on something to wear next week. Get your money back asap... And check out ame's recomendations.
Good luck!

I have to agree this person is definitely NOT your friend!

I appreciate the kind words :) I really feel for you KaylaDawn. This is an emotional purchase in and of itself, and when it does not go smoothly it is ridiculously painful and stressful. Getting what you paid for, and what you asked this jeweler to provide for your money, is not high maintenance, nor is it asking too much or greedy. In the longrun, you're doing what's best for your finances as a couple because you didn't overspend on something. I really hope the refund goes smoothly.
