Michael Kors Questions - Can anyone tell me about Hamilton bags?

I saw these at Macy's, but did not get a proper chance to inspect them.
I love the style on the MK site and I think this is my new fav "shape" of bag.


So to those of you that have them, what size do you have? What colors?

What do you use them for? ( work, kids, play, laptop..)

Why are their different names for the Hamilton like "luggage"?

Where is a place where I can get a good selection of them?

I have 2 medium size Hamiltons and may be adding a third with either the Claret or the Distressed coming out for Fall.

I like them because they have a bit of edge, yet are classic, timeless and very stylish. I like the fact that have some structure and keep their shape (I've heard the large ones slouch more, I like the medium because it retains it's shape).

They look good everywhere and with anything!! Good for the office, and gorgeous with jeans on the weekend - it's a take anywhere and everywhere bag.

Yes - I love the Hamiltons.

Oh, "luggage" is a color (sort of a tan leather). They are all Hamiltons but there are a million colors that are named.

i love these bags as well. i've been eyeing this ever since i saw them at bloomingdale's. however, i'm still torn which color i want for my first hamilton tote. can someone differentiate the luggage, orange, and tangerine colors for me? the photos looks like they're all in the same orange color family. is that correct? or is luggage in the brown color? i couldn't tell for sure just by looking at the photos. would love to get your inputs ladies! thanks!

I don't mean to hijack your thread but I also have a few questions about the hamilton bags as well.

What is the drop length of the handles and shoulder strap. Dose it vary depending on the size of the bag medium/large? Do only the large have the chain shoulder strap or do them mediums also have the chain shoulder strap? Im asking because on their website it only shows the large having the chain and the mediums having a leather detachable strap. But in the catalog they sent it shows bags with a chain and says they are mediums and are the medium price. Lastly what kind of leather are their bags made of?

Both the medium & the large have about a 4" drop on the small handles. The shoulder strap is 11" for the medium & 12" for the large. The medium you are looking at is the medium north/south shape and they do not have the chain strap. They also have a medium east/west satchel and that is the measurements I just listed. I have not seen the n/s medium hamiltons yet, but I do have an e/w.

@padlocks: wow! you're the queen of the MK hamilton bags. i'm assuming they're all large hamiltons or some are medium and small? seeing that you have a lot of different colors imaginable, i was wondering if you can shed some light. i just found out, thanks to sandc that the n/s and e/w on the bags' name are north/south and east/west respectively. it looks like from their dimensions, they're slightly different. the n/s are a bit taller while the e/w are slightly wider than the other. do all colors come in both n/s and e/w models? where did you buy your tangerine with ghw? i love this color but i can only see it with shw, and i prefer it with the ghw. i also posted in another thread that from the MK website, the same luggage color but different color hardwares look different. is that the case?

to the OP, didn't mean to hijack your thread. it's just that since you were asking more info regarding Hamilton bags, i thought to jump in and ask more info about the bag as well in the event it will help you get more information about it.

Hi, I purchased my Tangerine NS GHW @ Bloomingdales April 2011. Michael Kors website has the Orange in SHW (it is beautiful). Not all colors come in both models, not all stores sell all colors - Nordstrom for example carries a lot of exclusive Hamiltons and sometimes if a color does well MK brings it back in a different size. The color luggage was first introduced with silver hardware, earlier this year MK did the gold hardware in luggage, black, navy, red and vanilla in both EW & NS.

That is a really nice drop length. I have 9 inches and they are still a touch too short. That sounds better, it would fall right towards my waist. I am 5'3.

Hi, the black one is a little bigger but only 8 1/2 drop; the luggage is a little smaller but with a 12" drop. It is really the same not much of a difference, some people prefers a longer drop that's all.

Hardware color is the difference. Sometimes they make the same bag with different hardware choices. The medium e/w totes usually only vary in size if it is embossed or quilted leather vs plain leather. And then, it is only taller by a smidge because it is stiffer leather. That is what I have noticed when comparing them both anyway.
