I just received my new to me black Jumbo flap in caviar leather with SHW and noticed that the caviar is a lot softer compared to the medium classic flap I bought from the boutique last year. the date code is from the 13 series so 2009-2010. Is it just a difference in quality back then?

Well I'm not really sure but I do have 3 Jumbo Single Flap Caviar's from 2008 - 2010 and the quality is beyond reproach. Maybe the previous owner(s) carried it a lot and kind of wore the caviar down IYKWIM. That's the only thing that I can think of.
Are you going to keep it? From what I read here, the Vintage are typically a better quality than what we're seeing now from Chanel.
oh no I love the bag! and it looks to be in pretty great shape. I'll post pictures later. Just wondering why the leather was softer than my newer classic flap
