We are waiting for the show. Wow. It must be a fruitful trip. How much did ur mom spend? Is it worth to make a trip to hk?

I had a wonderful trip to HK! My mum spent a lot on jade  But she said it's worth it and if she doesn't buy now, she won't be able to afford it in the future because of the rapid price increase! I reckon it's worth the trip to HK. It's a great place for a holiday - food is cheap, shopping is cheap and public transport is very convenient! The only downside is that not everyone can speak good english, so if you're going to buy jade in HK and you don't know where to shop, you can get scammed easily. Even locals get scammed often when buying jade!

And finally, here is what I bought in HK! :p

The pendant above is also a sister pendant to the phoenix and dragon pendants my mum bought!
Love every piece, especially the bangle.

May I ask how much is it in HK?

IIturtle, wow, what an amazing Mom you have! A true jade lover. I love the lavender beads, all the things that you bought, especially the bangle, the lavender bangle and the fish pendant. The pendant has such an interesting play of light and color. You have a great collection now!
BTW, none of those things are nephrite. Nephrite has a different look to it and I can tell because of the grain of the jades you posted. Thank you so much for that!!!!

Looking back through those jades, the dark green pendants are amazing. Wow! That color has such a richness and power that other colors don't have.

Breadngem, your bangle is just lovely! Thanks for posting it and I think you are right that it is similar to the one I decided to get. I love the gentle neutrality of those colors, and with the translucence I imagine they capture the light beautifully. I also am a big fan of fine, even grain! Do you wear yours often? Is it one of your favorites?

Daisy, those cabochons don't look dyed, but I cannot tell if they are B jade or not. It's harder to tell with cabochons, especially with pictures only. Silver Mom is right, a dual wave uv is a big help because it will detect ALMOST all polymer, through one of the 2 wavelengths of uv light. It will also show glues, fillers and some kinds of dye. So even though it is used in a series of testing steps, you can be sure that if it glows evenly all over then it's B jade. If it glows in larger areas, but not all over, then it's likely a dye or A/B jade.

Some A grade jades will glow in little areas. This is often dirt, oil, polishing agent and small amounts of other minerals in the jadeite. These areas should be small though.

I recommend everyone buy a dual wave UV. Though it's not 100%, it's VERY good for polymer, and very helpful. It must be dual wave because only one wavelength will only detect half of the polymers out there. It's something you can do to test jade immediately.

iiturtle thank you for sharing the info with us...especially for those of us who won't be able to visit HK anytime soon. Good to see a piece of jade heaven. Thanks again.

Clairejune, yes that bangle is one of my fav, but i dont wear it often cos i love it so much i am afraid of damaging it! Very silly, i know...

Just that it is actually quite translucent (the pics dont do it justice) and watery & i got it at a great price, and i dont think i can find something similar easily now : )
