I tend to take a more practical approach when traveling with my good bags.
Let’s continue the conversation here!
Completely agree with you and will buy the backpack. I usually my small hard carry on luggage to stuff my bags while traveling but it is a pain (especially on the way back when you have more stuff then with what you came with) and honestly I’m also a fan of being incognito with my bags in other countries and airports. Strange since it really doesn’t matter where in the world you are either home or traveling.

Thank you! The particular backpack I use is fine for B25 or K25. I researched some other options for larger bags but don’t have personal experience with them. I wind up using this one for other times I’d want to protect my bag, like at the nail or hair salon.

This is a great idea! I find it especially helpful that you have done the legwork for us and provided multiple choices. If left to my own devices, it’s unlikely I would successfully go out and procure a backpack, as my last trip to REI was overwhelming and I was only looking for socks to wear with hiking boots.

Good article. I don't have any H-bags but can always use another lightweight sturdy back pack for travel and the Chico bag looks like a good, multipurpose one at a reasonable price.
For the absolutely paranoid (which I am since I was pick pocketed in Madrid this summer), take note that you could also use a small combination lock through the zipper pulls on the large compartment of the bag to have another layer of security. Useful as you walk on the street or are going through airport security.

You are absolutely right, you can! I’m using the bag right now as I’m at the nail salon.

As we are planning another vacation, I was wondering which travel bag to purchase to hide my handbags when I don't want them to be seen, so this article came just in time :) I wonder which one would be best for a B30? Backpack or Longchamp Pliage?

I really enjoyed the practicality of this article. For a B35 I’ve used an older style of this lesportsac “large easy tote” bag:
https://www.lesportsac.com/collections/totes/products/3417-c074

It has external pockets which make it easy to store stuff. It’s not as handsfree as a backpack but doubles as a beach bag and easily fits my nicer purse, shawl and water bottle on the inside with passport, wallet, tissues etc on the outside pockets.

Can’t stress how much I enjoyed the practicality and down-to-earthiness of this article - enjoying our purses but not having them limit our experiences. I know we (as the collective PB readers) spend a lot on our purses and love to enjoy them, but sometimes the most practical, effective, and stress-free option is a cost-effective, temporarily slightly less chic option.

And to each their own! For those that carry their expensive purses while traveling and find it practical for them - keep rockin’ it!

@Notorious Pink what a fun article - thank you for all the tips. I think it does very I much depend on the destination. I travel to Paris from London on the train with A kelly with a strap or a large plume. A Birkin too was designed for travel no? If I were going to a sporty holiday like skiing or yoga a backpack is a great option.
Edited to add; my bags are black or brown and I seriously doubt anyone looks at them. I used to get more attention with a Chanel classic. I can see though your bags are mostly bright colours which may be different.

All of my H bags are B35 and fit perfectly into a Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM. When traveling I’m constantly reaching in and out of my bag which is easier for me with a tote. Plus I can carry the relatively lightweight Neverfull when I’m not in the mood for a heavy B. So the “purseducken” approach works best for me. Plus I can stuff a poncho on top.

I use a similar approach - Longchamp expandable tote (crossbody method), which keeps everything contained and the nice bags discreet and protected from X-ray machines and general airport filth. At destination DH gets to carry it folded up in his murse for small purchases when we are out shopping. (I was recently amused to observe the Paris Goyard boutique manager suggesting to a client with a pile of designer shopping bags that he left lying around the store that he was going to get them swiped if he wasn't more careful. "Monsieur, perhaps you could accept having your purchases delivered to your hotel.")

Extra LC expandable totes go folded up in luggage for bringing home extra stuff.

But I have always wanted to get to the Mohunk Mountain House and that backpack looks perfect for such an adventure! Kudos - great article!
