Product Launch - Marketing Ideas

Hi, am doing a sch assignment and need some ideas. Can anyone help input some ideas?

Details of my sch assignment:
- Sole selling rights of the new product (anti hair loss shampoo) will be given to a hair salon.
- The new product launch will be covered on a local news channel. Filming done in the retail store on the day of the launch and be telecast on the news later in the day.
- Free samplers will be given on the day of the launch + promotional vouchers for hair services.

How and what can the hair salon do to maximum the news coverage to publicize and gain maximum exposure?

Any input will be very much appreciated.

Prior to all that, how about having some viral campaign online? Some teaser ads, maybe? I assume anti hair loss is more of a prevention product than a cure, right? So the target audience shouldn't be too mature...

I would suggest finding men's "grooming" blogs (for lack of a better word)... I'm sure they are out there. People blog about everything! Send them free product in exchange for an honest review.
