Okay, so love the dress, love the flowers, not my favourite tiara, but love that she wore that one.

I wonder if there was some other motive to wearing, not only the Queen's tiara, but also her dress. Like, Kate, Meg, all the others -- you're not blood royalty, just remember who is. I can see Andrew's input in that.
Doubt it. I think it was about making it as special a day for them as possible, given the circumstances.

It’s not even in need of a dusted off, the Queen has regularly worn the fringe tiara since her wedding. It’s one of the five (..? ish) tiaras in her tiara rotation.
It is an enormous special gesture from her that she has passed on a tiara she still actively uses and one can argue has a great emotional attachment to, as it was gifted to her by her own grandmother for her wedding.

I love this phrase. How many people can be said to have a "tiara rotation"? The most amusing thing to me is that it isn't out of place whatsoever to use it when referring to the Queen. I have a fancy hair barrette with lots of Swarovski crystals, but I couldn't pull off wearing a tiara, let alone having a closetful and wearing "a rotation" of them. And I don't think the Queen does Swarovski. Hers are the real deal. Back to my breakfast of cold cereal now...

She looks beautiful and I like that she wore one of the queens old dresses. It was a wise choice considering everything that's going on at the moment. The more I think about it I kind of enjoy the idea that it was so private. I half think that JCMH & MM were in the dark. Like they did it this way so they couldn't upstage her wedding like every other event they upstaged.

I do find it interesting that we don't see either of her parents in the released photos. I'm sure they took pictures together. It just kind of cements Andrew's new place in the family.

It's probably not even intentional, but the selections show you the family bond is always stronger.
I think she looks lovely in the dress and tiara and the simplicity of it during this time is perfect. Very appropriate. Aside from the groom, perfect!

I love the idea of wearing a dress from other family members. I assume the tailoring might have been tricky. The Queen is shorter than Beatrice and had a much smaller waist when she wore the dress. I wonder how they figured that out. I would love to wear my relatives' old clothing but everyone has gotten rid of it or the size is much too small that even a master tailor would have to alter the item to where it no longer resembles itself. Damn my weight!

I wish other members of the royal family would wear pieces formerly worn by the Queen, Princess Margaret, Diana, etc... but each woman has such different body types I could see that this would be hard to achieve.

5CAADA4F-4950-406F-B3D4-42CD8A01522C.pngA photo showing where and when Queen Elizabeth first wore this dress. I read that it was worn at least 3 times in the 60’s by the Queen. It looks like it had quite a bit of length at the bottom with a stiff underskirt. I like how the stiffness was removed and the length was adjusted for Princess Beatrice.

The monarch trust dressmaker, Angela Kelly and a designer specializing in bridal design, Stewart Parvin adapted the vintage gown specifically for Princess Bea.

Quite a lot of meaning behind the dress and the tiara, very special indeed.

I’m another one not a fan of the dress on Beatrice. Or her hair either. She looks like just put everything on at the last minute. I do like the flowers though. The one thing she did right.

I’m also of the opinion that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in regards as to how she sees herself; meaning Andrew taught her well how to feel entitled to what she has and who she is. From what some of her childhood friends said, the had to curtesy to her, call her m’am, etc. always on vacation, rarely working, I just get the feeling she’s definitely her father’s daughter.

To be fair to her, she did manage to have a nice wedding even though I think she wanted all the bells and whistles. And I still don’t trust Edo very far - he gives off bad vibes. He and Meghan are both masters at knowing just where all the camera are.

Angela Kelley can work miracles. Although today’s designers have forgotten that most tailors can make any garment look spectacular, QE’s tailors are some of the best in the business. Dresses from the 50s and 60s were made at a much higher standard than today’s clothing. The fabric, the cut, the seams, the thread, etc. — it was very different back then. The cost was not based on someone’s name, but on the quality of the workmanship. This is why Bea’s dress looks so good even now. Quality matters.

Quality was definetely top but the way they must have preserved the gown and treated it over the years was probably equally important and contributed to the result we're seeing now. White fabric tends to turn yellow-ish over the years something that didn't happen in this case.

I really like that she did something so different and borrowed one of the Queen's gowns from 1962. Very smart choice, given the times and how many are suffering right now. Nothing OTT or extravagant . . . well, OK, the tiara is Cartier and extravagant but it's not like it was commissioned for the wedding. Love the flowers too, they are spectacular.
and imaginative since the gown wasn't originally a wedding gown and they altered the sleeves
