I don't know anything about this man... Does he have a bad reputation ?

Edo was living with his fiancée & the mother of his young son when he and Beatrice started dating, so he had 2 fiancées in the span of 12 months. He moved in with Bea quickly and there was some backlash (including from the ex-fiancée’s friends), so they issued a statement saying he and his previous fiancée were separated and just living together. He’s tremendously wealthy & no doubt his ex signed a nondisclosure agreement— it doesn’t benefit her or her son to speak ill of the relationship. (She’s a smart lady & an accomplished architect).

Edo & Bea had been dating under a year before their engagement, so people were concerned they may be rushing things. Many feel protective of Beatrice because her younger sister married lavishly last year & she turned 31, so she may be feeling pressure. Plus, Bea hasn’t had the best taste in men. One ex had legal troubles & the most recent ex wouldn’t commit— he dated her for nearly a decade then got engaged to someone else less than a year after the breakup.

I understand her decision to cancel the wedding, some “ordinary” people are doing the same.
I would have probably done the same, because there is a high chance relatives can not attend it, and let’s be honest, most of us didn’t have a small and private wedding.
But I agree with @limom , that guy is giving me bad vibes. I hope he proves me wrong, but the other person that the BRF gained and lost in less than 2 years didn’t prove me wrong.

She has a really good opportunity to gain back some positive sentiment towards the monarchy after all the missteps. A small wedding would show that love is their priority.

It doesn’t seem like she’s going to go that route though.

I’m not sure that is fair. She had already planned to have a smaller wedding than her sister or her cousins. But I think anyone would like to have a wedding that, at least, her close family could attend.

Well good for them.

So....the wedding was "done today" but "no pictures until tomorrow" as "to not over shadow Captain Tom's Knighthood".

Brilliant. A twofer! Actually a threefer if you think about it.

They could have had their tiny private secret wedding virtually ANY day.

Buuuuut it waaaas oooon the day of Captain Tom's Knighthood.

1. Publicity they got married TODAY
2. "Pictures not released until tomorrow" to "demonstrate humility and respect for Captain Tom"
3. Gives further publicity for Captain Tom

Repurposing the spotlight from your own wedding to highlight somebody else's achievement is a pretty cool public relations strategy.
