I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

It was the night Her Majesty’s body was moved to Buckingham Palace for one last night before she was moved the next day to Westminster Hall for the public to pay their respects.

The Royal Family was present in the building, but Charles was to receive the hearse. He was standing on the stairs waiting alone. He looked bereft and evidently didn’t realize they were there, he didn’t acknowledge them.

At just the right moment they sidled into place from the left on the stair above him, shutter snapped, they scuttled off, exit right. So the photo implies just the Suckesses were waiting with the King to receive the Queen’s casket.

The least entitled people in the world inserted themselves in what should have been, and was scheduled to be, a moment of grieving son receiving his mother’s casket. They evidently waited and when they got the brief opportunity, it was classic Duke and Douchess making something about them, pushing forward in classic Ghoul move that we’ve seen many times, where they were not invited to be. In a way it looked like a FU to Charles, they hadn’t been at her deathbed, but they made sure to get a private moment somewhere with the focus on them.

Charles did nothing to them so I don’t why he’s being criticized? The analysis of how they pulled it off with the photographer came later. Speculation in one article i read was they were wired.

edited to add: Their appearance was so jarring in the context of how the event was being described as Charles’ lonely vigil, (they looked sneaky as they came into the frame), that it caused me to pay attention to see what they were up to.
Despicable, tacky, opportunistic  Tbf, Hazz does look a bit nervous while she hides behind her wall of hair.
I agree, they are jerks. They should both stay home.

MeGain has gotten her wish - she never wanted to be part of the royal family.

“I’m delighted and I’m so glad that the American is leaving the country - I invite you all to rise and drink a toast - tonight we celebrate!”

Nooo, let them live in France like Wallis&Ed.

Was that after they were seated in the second row? Kind of a slimy BRF move, imo.
Ya kno, the American in me would be tempted to make a mockery of the whole thing, too. But then, the American in me would never have married a stupid British prince. Sheeesh. Did we not learn from Diana how these Windsor men are?

ETA: I dislike all of them  I really dislike the ones that make me feel sorry for MM

As I remember it was published in the British press but then removed as it had been requested by the BRF that no photographs were allowed to be taken within the walls of BP.

yesterday I thought her thirst for attention would make her go (plus be in the history books)

Her best move (if she wasn’t so thirsty) is to not go.

Look at it practically - their brand and the two of them have trashed the institution as racist, unkind, didn’t protect her, leaked stories about her to cover/exchange for other stories, took her passport etc.

Harry then went out in Spare, trashed his own family again, called Camilla a villain and demanded an apology for MM and a summit in order to attend the coronation.

South park comes out and makes them a global laughing stock.

If she goes - she risks damaging what is left of their brand (due to their hypocrisy etc), with No carriage ride, balcony appearance or formal photo sessions - her humiliation is on full display - shown to a middle row, nowhere near the “senior royals” etc. She didn’t get her apology!

She would have to curtsey to KC3, feel the ice burns from family and attendees and the risk of boos / or chants from the public outside (“we want privacy”) or people holding Southpark pictures or wearing tshirts etc

The humiliation would be huge. Her best move is to skip it, do a huge rebrand/refocus.

(sheepishly raises hand) I bought a T-shirt...

And "Meghan staying home with the kids" is on a breaking news update on the TV in front of me. In this sense of the word, she is indeed (in)famous.

Maybe she will relaunch the Tig on the coronation day. it wouldn’t get as much traction as a “conscious uncoupling” announcement though…

In the article, David Olusegun, founder of Creative Control Ventures (who?) remarked "Meghan could partner with brands that align with The Tig's mission and values to create sponsored content."

Let's see what her mission is, because that would set direction for what she talks about. The same article also says: "Not only would The Tig be a space for her to vent her views..." If "vent her views" means more complaints about how she was a victim of BRF largesse, then I would just

I don't. So disrespectful to poor Wallis.
I still think the UK should be grateful to her, as she rid them of what would've been an absolutely horrible King. :P
Also I read recently that it's thanks to Wallis that the UK is a democracy: if Edward VIII had remained King, being an admirer of Hitler and Mussolini, the UK could have had a dictatorship..... a bit farfetched but, who knows.

Oooh - the Telegraph burns MM

Meghan has left Harry to suck up the shame of playing Coronation second fiddle

Opting to stay away than run a gauntlet of egg throwers, the Prince will have to deal with their ignominy from the Abbey’s cheap seats alone

Nothing in Royal Land happens by accident. From the issuing of official announcements to the planning of royal engagements, a degree of military precision is applied that would make even the most regimental of sergeant majors blush.
Timing is everything, which makes Buckingham Palace’s 3pm statement revealing that Harry - not Meghan - will attend the Coronation all the more intriguing.
“Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May,” read the long-awaited missive, adding to virtually no one’s surprise: “The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
For the truth is, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have known for months that this was the way they were going to broach the May 6 ceremony. Among their Montecito set, it has been an open secret that Harry was planning to attend without Meghan since Spare hit the bookshelves in January - possibly even earlier.
The signs were all there, from the Duchess being almost entirely absent from her husband’s book tour to rumours of disgruntlement at Archie and Lilibet’s apparent exclusion from the Coronation procession.

If Meghan wasn’t willing to help Harry to promote his tell-all book about the Firm, then why on earth would she be minded to run the gauntlet of potential egg throwers outside Westminster Abbey on behalf of her “racist” in-laws? Especially after that South Park episode?
And in what world would the woman who once told Oprah Winfrey, “The most important title I will ever have is Mom,” be comfortable with skipping her eldest’s fourth birthday in favour of an event that would require her to curtsy not only to her estranged father and mother-in-law - but also her even more estranged brother and sister-in-law?

The Duchess made very clear what she thought about curtseying to Queen Elizabeth II in the couple’s Netflix documentary. She’s unlikely to be any more enamoured with the idea of bending the knee and bowing her head to “cry-monger” Catherine, the pregnancy-hormone princess.
Sussex Squadders will insist she took one for the team for fear of “overshadowing” what Harry has described as the biggest day of his father’s life. But more objective observers may point to even greater fears about being placed in the cheap seats alongside their fellow non-working royal, the Duke of York.
As recent royal history has proved, the Sussexes would only reluctantly play second fiddle when Queen Elizabeth was conducting the orchestra, and now she’s no longer waving the baton - Meghan’s well and truly left the band. Like John Lennon, she very much sees her future in the US, say friends. So it will be left to Harry to suck up the ignominy of being excluded from both the King’s procession and Coronation procession and banned from the Buckingham Palace balcony. Blood is thicker than water, and all that.
But why has the couple waited until now to formally RSVP?

Harry’s abject hatred of the media will certainly have played a part. The Duke, who made a surprise appearance at the High Court last month for his claim against Associated Newspapers Limited over allegations of unlawful information gathering, likes nothing more than keeping pesky royal reporters guessing. Even better to see them make predictions that later turn out to be false.
Control is key - and in withholding their confirmation for months, Harry and Meghan ensured that the ball remained in their court. The couple seems to relish engaging in games of cat and mouse with the palace - sometimes seemingly against paid advice. On Wednesday night, there was even some confusion over whether they planned to make the announcement themselves initially - before deferring to the palace - or whether the palace planned to announce it all along.

Yet they also knew they would stand accused of “snubbing” the King’s big day if neither of them were in attendance. Having recently announced that they have opted to use their children’s royal titles - which were conspicuous in the palace’s announcement - it would have looked rather hypocritical of the fifth-in-line to the throne (and don’t you forget it) to skip the biggest event in the Court Circular since 1953.
Thoughts will now inevitably turn to whether this presents a third - and possibly final - chance for a royal rapprochement. Both sides tried and failed after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral in April 2021, when a family summit did not resolve matters following the Oprah interview. Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last September was similarly unsuccessful with Harry revealing in his memoir that he and William “barely exchanged a word”. When Harry returned for last month’s court case, he was told his father was “too busy” to see him while his brother was not even in London. They will meet for the first time since #dogbowlgate in a little over three weeks’ time.
Meghan’s absence may smooth the path to reconciliation - but if Harry is still holding out for a royal mea culpa, it seems highly unlikely he will receive one.
Both the King and Prince William are understood to feel deeply betrayed by the many personal family revelations the Duke has made - not only in his warts-and-all book but various interviews.
Many cannot see how the relationship will ever be repaired, with sources close to the Waleses revealing that they are waiting for “some acknowledgement” of the hurt that has been caused “let alone an apology”.
Charles will always be willing to forgive his “darling boy” and suggestions there has been “genuine cooperation” over Harry’s attendance is surely a positive sign.
But one gets the distinct impression that when it comes to deciding whether Harry should be let back into the royal fold, William will be the one wearing the Crown come Coronation Day.

I think she was invited but they wouldn’t meet her “demands” and they called her bluff.

I’m glad she’s not going, but I wish they were both staying home.

I think her 'demands' were the bluff - so she wouldn't have to go. Her demands were impossible.

HG Tudor (and I) think she operates solely from a Narc's perspective. She is ill - and also therefore predictable. If she can't control a situation and make the occasion all about her (including 'righting' all 'wrong') she's petrified. We've seen it. Not only does her mask slip but she's helpless (remember the walkabout).

If she can't direct and star in the movie, it's not her movie
