I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

I don't get these two. THEY CAN'T FORCE people to like them. People will do what they want to do. Them putting out all these whatevahs, "won't come if toxic, people booing, etc." just shows how stupid and ignorant they are.

This is the real world and they don't understand and they can stomp their feet, cry, wail, complain in the media, they can't force their conditions on anyone. Jeeze, how stupid and ignorant are they again?

I think so. My family narc interpretes anything that isn't glowing adoration as "attack".

I had no idea Jada was so bad... I personally have never liked her, but in my neck of the woods you don't hear much about her, so I thought it was just my impression.

Is this not a thing? Coming from the stronghold of carnival I don't think much of dressed up adults (or actually, I do but only because I'm a joyless Grinch who hides inside all during carnival eating donuts).

Yeah but like everything people who perform at carnivals actually put effort into their costumes and have talents in dance and performance which they lack.

This is just to persuade us they are ‘fun’ and ‘sexy’ but it just looks self conscious tbh. Very teen on Facebook trying to get their crush to notice them with strategic ‘having a great time’ uploads vibes.

Let’s face it - the only Diana piece that could beat the ring for star power is the sapphire choker.

One thing that surprised me a little was how few of Diana’s pieces were Diana’s. I was comparing her collection to Jackie Kennedy and Bunny Mellon’s auction catalogues and … she borrowed a lot of jewelers and from the Queen. Like, a lot a lot. Obviously, I don’t have an exhaustive list, I’m going off of a lot of blogs, an interview with Simon Butler of Butler and Wilson and the Style of Diana book.

With a half dozen exceptions, I couldn’t pick most of Diana’s jewels out of a lineup - “link bracelet, chunky link bracelet, cuff bracelet, cuff bracelet with diamonds, charm bracelet, Pearl strand, graduated Pearl strand, baroque Pearl strand.”

Someone once said, around the time of Meghan’s wedding, “jewelry is the livery of the royal family, showing your position and authority.” They went on to say that the Diamond and Pearl earrings were like the journeymen’s apron - and as you take on more tasks, the “uniform” becomes more elaborate. Diana didn’t start buying for herself until she became aware that the jewelry box was closing.

The tank may be ordinary, anyone with 25k could own an identical piece. But it photographs well from a distance and since she put out a few articles about it, we know she’s associated with Diana via her jewelry.

This is so interesting, I think she did a good job at consolidating her jewellery style with the blue stones especially aquamarines - I mean she was never going to be able to have something of the size of a royal collection.

Very interesting about Diana's jewelry. I guess when you marry the Prince of Wales there are expectations of having access to the jewelry box and later controlling it as Queen. The late Queen certainly was generous with Camilla, Catherine and Sophie. They have all worn lovely borrowed pieces.

Interestingly, KC3 has gifted his wife with quite a few outstanding pieces, such as her pearl choker that she wears on the regular. It would look like he really did not gift Diana much at all.

Had to save the bling for the mistresses maybe….

This is a good observation. She may think pieces like the ones Catherine was seen wearing at the Queen's and PP's funerals are matronly, and god forbid anyone call her matronly. Her Cartier watch and bracelet can be seen on countless young women in LA and she probably viewed them as a sign that she had "arrived".

She’s arrived just like a deliveroo greasy, cheap and usually a big regret in the morning.

I guess it’s a status symbol but it’s kind of the opposite way around cos it just looks a bit basic like she has no imagination and no idea about the impressive designs she’s surely seen in her brief stint. In a way it’d be more of a statement if she just didn’t wear anything and wasn’t a ‘jewellery person’.
