Lovely news. So happy for Edward and Sophie!
She never seeks the limelight, yet, much like Princess Anne, works hard in support of the Monarchy, even more in recent years. I hope her new title brings appropriate recognition in the press to what a lovely, intelligent, gracious woman now proudly holds the title, Duchess of Edinburgh.
I think it gave the King great pleasure to honor his parents’ wishes for the Duke and Duchess titles to be given to Edward and Sophie. I see affection and a genuinely positive vibe in this picture.
If I could ask for the moon - the Strathmore Rose has two bases, and interchangeable motifs - you can exchange the roses for sapphires. Maybe three thistles and two roses…I hope this means Sophie gets to pick a new tiara for herself for the Coronation... I mean, as much as I love the Aquamarine necklace tiara (the one with the big stone), the Duchess of Edinburgh needs something nicer than these:
I wish there was some unseen tiara in the vaults with thistles on it or something. That would be appropriate since she is the Duchess of Edinburgh. Something like these but a better design:
The George IV Diadem does have thistles in it but that's out of the question of course:
They asked some members of the public in Edinburgh about the new Duke one lady said “ I dont care they could have given it to one of the corgis that would have been just as good” lol
They should of gave him a Duke title way before Prince Harry. He and his wife have always worked hard.
That is such a nice pic of the new Duke! I was so happy to see this news this morning; I had begun to despair that Charles was not going to honor the wishes of his parents. Nice for Sophie, too - she has really been a stand-out these past few years. Gracious, a hard worker and not someone who incessantly tries to direct attention to herself.
