Edward seems uncomfortable. He’s not shaking too many hands but is waving instead and keeping more distance between him and the well wishers. Charles and William earlier and Sophie at this walkabout are taking the time to shake as many hands as possible and chat with people.
I felt his awkwardness too. At one point, someone held out her hand to shake his, and he just backed away. And then it happened a few more times. It sort of destroyed the moment for everyone standing in queue.

I understand he's tired, but these mourners are even more tired! Imagine holding your hand out just to have someone step back. It hurts. All I can say is he's not very politically savvy, best to leave these things to King Charles and Prince William.

All I can say is it is his choice. If he does not want to shake, it is imo ok. Tom Cruise had an incident where someone threw water on him, so that would make anyone cautious. While Sophie gets praised for hugging, imo it is unadvisable - people get excited and can grab anything. Of course she has security watching, still it could turn into a problem. A polite hello, how are you, etc. is quite nice enough.

Well said Edward is much more reserved like the Queen it is how he was brought up

I don't want to shake hands either. So germy.

And happily it grows like a weed in my garden.
It is extremely prolific---some people have written about regretting ever planting it because it spreads so much unless it's contained. I have a section in my landscaping where I've planted it and I adore it, though I greatly wish the flowers were around longer.

It really was so thoughtful of Sophie to have the flower embroidered on her dress to honor of The Queen.
