Prince Edward at the children's vigil today looked very fine. I only got a quick glimpse of Sophie, standing with Camilla and the rest of the extended family. She looked lovely but exhausted.
How wonderful they are doing a walkabout just outside the gates of Buckingham palace to thank the crowds amazing to have such access to the royals
Edward seems uncomfortable. He’s not shaking too many hands but is waving instead and keeping more distance between him and the well wishers. Charles and William earlier and Sophie at this walkabout are taking the time to shake as many hands as possible and chat with people.
I was just saying exactly that on the H&m thread. Honestly, I think he's absolutely exhausted and that's why he's not giving the crowd his full attention! I believe this is his 3rd walkabout, on top of the vigils, and I'm sure he had just met with the dignitaries who are in BP right now as well.
(Edit: Just seen in pictures he was with all the dignitaries at BP just before the walkabout, so he's been going all day.)
It must be weird grieving the loss of your mum and carrying out all these duties.
I can't say for sure because Charles and William were much warmer with the crowd earlier and they've been going non-stop as well, but I can see a lot of stress in Edward's face that makes me feel like he's just too tired for this right now.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex surprised well-wishers gathered outside Buckingham Palace today on a walkabout - after they said the Royal Family had been 'overwhelmed by the tide of emotion'.

He is a much shyer man he had more in depth conversations with those he stopped with was very gracious and thanked everyone saying all the support was helping all the royal family and he wished his mother could see the volume of support - he is his fathers son he is really stepping up
Just watched the grandchildren's vigil, James and Louise are the youngest of the grandchildren, just 14 and 18. They both did so well. I'm sure their parents were proud of them.
Edward made a comment about staying on time with the walkabout. We now know E&S needed to get back for their children to (get ready to) do their vigil at 6.30 so maybe that's why he was a bit less engaged.

I really hope Charles III will soon announce Edward the Duke of Edinburgh like his father wanted after his death. The Queen requested it be postponed after her death because Sophie would have been Duchess of Edinburgh while the Queen was still a living widow. Its strange since he already gave William and Catherine PoW on his second day as King. Hopefully he is waiting until after the funeral. It would be a shame if he doesn't.
I think it's more fitting to announce it after the funeral, after the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are together again.
